Advantages: Baby is safe and secure
Disadvantages: None at all
The baby bath I am currently using is the Mamas and Papas, aqua two stage ergo bath, as this review isnt specifically for this bath it doesn't show a picture, not sure if it allows me to post links, but here is the link the bath so you can see what it looks like - http://www.mamasandpapas .co.uk/product-acqua-two-stage- ergo-bath-pearl-white/4538472/type-i/
The bath costs £20 and I feel it is the best £20 I have ever spent, I cannot sing the praises of this bath enough and would highly recommend it to everyone with a small baby. The bath I have is cream in colour and it measures 93cm long, 54cm wide and 26cm high, therefore I just big enough to fit into our standard bath. If you look at the link you will see that the inside of the bath has been moulded so there is a space to sit your new born baby in, this has a solid plastic piece that goes between the legs preventing them from slipping down into the bath water. So rather than having to hold a slippy baby up in the bath with one hand whilst washing them with the other, you can now sit your baby in the bath seat, where they are safe, this leaves your hands free to do all the washing! You just fill the bath up with tap water, following all the guidelines for the correct temperature (we have a bath thermometer that you simple drop into the bath water and it tells you when it is the right temperature), take care not to fill it up too much, so the water doesn't come over your baby's head. The bath is suitable from birth to 12 months, or until your baby weighs 1.8kg. The other good point about this bath is that you don't use as much water as you would if you were filling your big bath up every night, it therefore saves you money on your water bill!
This bath was especially helpful for my husband, as he has never really had any experience with small babies, so he was especially scared when he first started to bath Rhys, I think he was more afraid of dropping him when he was wet and slippy. Im sure any of you out there who have had babies will completely understand how he was feeling! This bath enabled him to enjoy bath times with my son, without feeling anxious.
The bath has a moulded seat at one end for when the baby is small, you can use this section until your baby can sit up by itself. You can then turn the baby around to the other end, where there is slightly more space for the baby to kick around. The baby must be able to sit up before moving them to this end as there is no support to hold them upright.
My first worry when seeing this bath was that Rhys wouldn't be able to splash around as he was a little bit restricted in the seat, but I was mistaken!! Rhys has now discovered that he can splash lots with his legs and has also found that if he arches his back up and down he can create a very big splash indeed!! Needless to say, bath times are becoming wetter and wetter, but I don't mind at all as my son thoroughly enjoys himself!!!
Summary: Makes bath time fun for all.

- 28/08/08 I think I'll make do with a washing up bowl! Good review though. |

- 27/08/08 I'll suggest this to go into its own product category for you as it would be better suited to its own one rather in "other". |
