Advantages: Keeps my son's bottom dry
Disadvantages: Doesn't suit everyone
The decision on which type of nappy to buy is one that companies know once you find a product you like you do tend to stick to it highly advertise. I personally have received money off vouchers and samples through the post. They are frequently on offer to try to tempt you to their product.
I am like they predict someone who now tends to stick to one brand. When my son was born I had a selection of both shop brand and the two main branded nappies and I didn't feel that it made that much difference due to the fact I was changing as frequently as like all newborns he was frequently soiling his nappy. As he grew into bigger nappies I found myself becoming brand loyal to Pampers.
Pampers baby dry are advertised as keeping your baby dry for up to twelve hours while they sleep with an extra sleep layer and in my experience this has been correct. My son goes to bed at 7.30 and is up anytime between 5 and 7.30. When he gets up in the morning his nappy is full of urine and does smell of urine but when I remove the nappy his bottom is dry or very occasionally slightly damp. I can count on one hand the number of nappies that have leaked and this seems to have been when the nappy is bulging so my son has urinated more than usual.
I have found that pampers are slightly larger than Huggies. They seem to fit my son well but after discussing nappies with many other moms it appears that some nappies seem to fit some babies better than others. Whether it is co incidence or not my friends with boys tend to favour pampers and my friends with girls tend to favour Huggies for fit. They do seem to keep my son's bottom that bit drier. Than other shop branded nappies I have tried. I tried Tesco's nappies a few months ago as I had so many great reviews for them but when I removed them my son's bottom was damp so have returned to pampers.
My son has never once had nappy rash which I believe to be testament to how effective these nappies are.
I did have one box of nappies where the bonding on the elastic strip ripped off on about5 nappies so I phoned there customer service which is a freepost number and was given vouchers to refund the whole box. I was very impressed with customer services as they took the complaint very seriously and sent out a freepost envelope to return a few nappies so they could investigate.
The price of these nappies depends upon what size you need and how many nappies you purchase. My two year old son is currently in size five nappies and I tend to by the jumbo boxes which are usually £11.49 but if you wait for the offers they can be picked up for £9.99. I usually stock up when they are this price. Size five jumbo boxes contain seventy four nappies.
I would definitely recommend that parents try these nappies but buy a small pack to see how they fit your little one. I would also recommend that on the smaller babies don't buy too far in advance as I frequently seemed to return nappies as they had grown up to the next size.
Summary: Definitely worth trying

- 16/06/09 I would only use pampers for my little boy as well, I found George quite good when he was tiny but as he got older pampers seemed to be the only brand that would prevent nappy rash good review x |
