Advantages: Probably OK if you have loads of money and dont care about the environment

Disadvantages: Expensive, not really needed and fill landfill

What is the point of Pampers Care Mats? The only answer that I can find to that it to increase Pampers sales.

Launched on the market a year ago these items are quite expensively priced and the idea is that you use them as changing mats etc for your baby.

I have a baby but have never been tempted to buy these things. I use a terry nappy to lay on top of her plastic changing mat when we are at home and when we are out and about I have a small plastic backed mat which folds into my baby bag and on which I lay a terry nappy. OK you have to wash the terry nappy but often you get a few changes out of them before they have to be washed and it is not then hard to put them in the washing machine. The initial cost of the terry nappies is very cheap, especially if you buy them from Index who seem to have the best deal. You could even use old towels if you did not want to buy Terrys. Either way these are much cheaper options than Care Mats even taking into account the washing.

Another thing to consider with the Care Mats is the extra increase in rubbish, hence land fill and the eventual damage to our environment.

I have a sample of the Care Mats but have not even bothered using it because I just cant see the point in them.

I have found a use for them while potty training, (I have written an opinion about this), but you are right, a complete waste of money while a baby is small.

Absolutely - more rubbish and more ways to get parents to spend money. My free sample remains unused too.
