Advantages: Soft, absorbant and well fitting
Disadvantages: Price
Since I had my third baby and first boy 4 weeks ago, I have completely absorbed in all things baby related. It really is all consuming in those first couple of months and I had forgotten how dependant these gorgeous little creatures are on you for everything. My days and nights are pretty much spent snuggling, nappy changing, feeding, winding and washing, looking after my two beautiful girls and not really sleeping much... and I love it.
Having said that, there are certain elements that can be a little bit of a faff. Newborn baby poo is really a remarkable substance, it seems to come in a whole range of different colours and is also ridiculously runny. This makes it difficult for a nappy to contain and you end up with many leakages on pristine white babygros.
To be honest I don't think any nappy would ever contain all the poo all the time, you are bound to encounter the odd leak or indeed the odd explosion where it goes all the way up their little back but I do believe that when it comes to a newborn, it is worth investing in a quality nappy.
Now don't get me wrong, I am in no means a nappy snob, as my elder 2 got older, I tried pretty much every nappy available on the shelves (tesco's and lidl are great) but when they are little, I have always found pampers to be the best.
These nappies just seem to be softer, more absorbant and better fitting than all the others on offer, and when their skin is still to new and sensitive, I really feel that these things are improtant.
I have found these nappies easy to put on snuggly and also really like that they do feel so soft against my little one's delicate skin. Another real plus point for me with Pampers, is that when folded down unused, these nappies are incredibly slim and do not take a lot of room in my otherwise bulging changing bag.
I have experienced no isses with irritation from these nappies, they do not leave red marks on his skin where they hug his skin and slthough he can't actually tell me, he does seem very comfortable in them.
Pampers are pricey though, I think they are a brand which reel you in with relatively well price newborn nappies and then they snealiky up the price as you go through to the larger sizes. Therefore I would suggest sticking with Pampers until weaning and then look for an alternative brand at this point as the poo is less runny and more containable.
A pack of 27 newborn nappies costs £3.74 but look out for vouchers as they seem to come thick and fast for new mums.
Summary: Fab nappy for new bubba
