Advantages: Super stretchy, easy to change wiggley babies

Disadvantages: A bit more expensive than other brands

In the year or so since they were born, my twins have got through a whole bunch of nappies. I don't even want to attempt to add it all up, as it will just depress me! We've tried every brand of nappy out there and I have to say that when it comes to nappies, you get what you pay for. Pampers are the most expensive, but they're also the best.

We now use the Pampers Active fit nappies as the babies are both on the move constantly. We found that the 'Baby Dry' type of nappy was great before they started crawling, but as soon as they started moving around, their poo went everywhere! Sorry to be gross, but it's true! Active Fit nappies have a really stretchy bit round the leg which means the poo stays neatly inside.

These nappies are quite easy to put on, even when you've got a really wiggley baby like my little boy, who doesn't stay still for more than a nanosecond at a time. He often gets up and crawls off halfway through a change, so his nappies always go on lopsided, but this makes no difference to their poo-retaining qualities.

Pampers nappies are also quite thin, compared to other brands. This is great if you have a baby with a fat bottom like my little girl as it means she still manages to fit into her trousers alright!

Pampers have a dry core made out of the same water-retaining gel that you would use in patio plant containers. This draws away moisture and also stops your baby from feeling damp, helping to prevent appy rash. My two have never suffered with nappy rash, thank goodness, although I'm not sure whether they're just lucky or if it's down to the nappies.

Recently, my local supermarket ran out of Pampers, so I bought their own brand. They were rubbish! They leaked quite badly and were not nearly as stretchy as Pampers which made it quite tricky to change my son. They were a lot thicker than Pampers too, which meant my daughter was a bit uncomfortable.

The only problem I've ever had with Pampers was when the fastening tag fell off a couple of nappies in one pack. I phoned up their (free phone) customer help line and told them. They were extremely apologetic and sent my £5 worth of vouchers!

Unfortunately I can't comment on how Pampers compare to reusable nappies as I've never used reusables. I went into motherhood with all the best intentions, but when I realised how much work was involved in caring for twin babies all my good intentions went out the window!

Pampers are probably the most expensive nappies out there on the market, but if you are going to use disposables then I would definitely recommend them. I tend to buy them in bulk when there's a special offer on at the supermarket and store them at the bottom of the wardrobe. In any case, you have to change cheaper nappies more often, so they probably work out about the same in the long run!

Summary: The best I've found so far

These are way better than Huggies - Huggies used to leak too!

I'ts definitely Pampers for my son aswell. Huggies used to give him terrible nappy rash for some reason. He's 2 now though so hopefully we can potty train soon and nappies will be a thing of the past!

I must confess I'm a Huggies girl although I like the Pampers pull ups better than the Huggies version. Still, we're potty training at the moment so hopefully it'll all be behind us soon!
