Advantages: Increased freedom for baby without increased hassle for mum
Disadvantages: Not suitable for overnight use
Before trying the Active Fit nappies I have to admit to thinking they were a bit of a gimmick - especially as they are slightly more expensive than the normal Baby Dry Pampers. When my husband came back from the supermarket with these in the shopping I was a little annoyed at him for wasting money. I know have to admit "I was wrong" - something I don't like to admit to very often and these nappies are fantastic!
They are perfect for when you baby starts to get more active and not just the rolling or crawling stage. I found they worked a treat from the time my daughter started wriggling her hips while lying down.
Personally, I prefer Pampers to any other brand and the reasons for my preference are the same for the Active Fit ones (although I have a couple of extras for them which I will also add). Pampers in general are softer than the other brands I have tried so are more plyable when putting them on (something which in my book is crucial when dealing with a wriggler); they are also slighter larger than the Huggies brand. My daughter grew out of size 3 Huggies long before she grew out of size 3 Pampers. The amount of fluid they hold is also slightly more than other brands and they do seem to draw the fluid away from the skin better also.
I particularly like the Active Fit brand as they have a longer elasticated waist band, so are much easier to actually put on a wriggling baby and also give my daughter much more freedom. There is no doubt about it, she is more active in an Active Fit nappy than a normal one.
The downside to these nappies is that they are not "stay dry" - a stay dry nappy is one designed for overnight use as they "stay dry" for 12 hours. I have tried the Active Fit ones over night as I don't really like having to buy two different nappy types (one for day and one for night use) as it does mean there is more to "stay on top of" and the initial outlay seems more (although as you're not actually using any more nappies the longer term cost is the same). When I tried them I found the nappy, in the morning, to be absolutely sodden - whereas with the Baby Dry that isn't the case. Although in credit to the Active Fit, it still didn't leak.
You can also join a Pampers Baby Club and they send through money off vouchers on a regular basis (Huggies also have a club, but I have found vouchers a bit thin on the ground with the Huggies one).
Although this nappy may seem like a bit of a gimmick, my experience has disproved that theory for me!
Summary: A great nappy for when your little one starts wriggling - worth the extra pennies.
