Pampers Sensitive Baby Wipes
Advantages: Cheap, gentle, effective
Disadvantages: can't always just get one
When I was pregnant, baby wipes were something we definitely wanted to stock up on. As first time parents, we had no idea where to start. However we knew Pampers was a well known and well trusted brand, so when we saw a box of 12 packets of wipes on offer at Asda for £10, we bought 5 lol. I wanted sensitive wipes because I felt they would be better for delicate newborn skin. These wipes are supposed to be as pure as water.
The wipes are widely available at supermarkets and places like Boots. You get 56 wipes in a pack (formerly 64!) and a single pack retails at around £1 on offer, or £1.50 not on offer. They are also available in packs of 4 for approx £6, or a box of 12 for approx £11. It's worth looking out for Asda's Baby Event, as they often reduce the boxes to £10 or sometimes even £9, which works out at 75p per packet!
The packets are white with the blue Pampers logo and a mother and baby picture on. The wipes are sensitive and state there is aloe and chamomile in them. They are alcohol free, perfume free and dermatologically tested. You get slightly less wipes in them than you used to, but they are still good value.
To open the wipes you pull up the transparent sticky tab, which exposes a perforated plastic tab which you can either remove altogether, or put back down along with the transparent tab when you re-seal the pack. To close, you simply push the wipes back in and then push down the transparent tab, which will seal the pack and stop the wipes from drying out.
The wipes are white with a butterfly design, moist but not soaking wet, and have no smell. They are standard thickness - thicker than toilet roll but not by much - and are very soft. Usually one wipe is sufficient for a wet nappy, although more than one is usually needed for a dirty one. When using more than one wipe, they do make the area quite wet, so I usually find it necessary to gently pat my daughter's bum dry with a soft towel to avoid nappy rash.
The one downfall with these wipes is that you can't always pull out just one - often you end up pulling out 3 or 4 by accident, which is ok if you need that many, but more often than not it is just a nuisance. I can't fault them in any other way though!
I find these wipes very very handy even now that my daughter is potty trained. We use them to wipe her hands, face etc. and they are very handy for wiping up emergency spills! I also use them to remove my eye makeup as I have sensitive skin/eyes and these are very gentle. They are very effective at removing waterproof mascara! I have wipes everywhere - in the house, my daughter's bag, my bag, the car etc.. they really are the best.
Summary: the best!
