Advantages: Great price, fine for very short term wear
Disadvantages: Does not lock in wetness, cannot wear for any length of time
During tough financial times any money can be saved on day to day items is a bonus.
Pampers have recently introduced their new Simply Dry no frills, basic nappies. Pampers state:
"Simply Dry - a great value nappy with Pampers trusted dryness.
With new Simply Dry from Pampers, there's no need to compromise on the dryness quality your baby needs for his healthy happy development. With Simply Dry, you get Pampers trusted dryness at a great value."
The RRP is £3.99 for 26 nappies but many supermarkets and shops have been advertising them at special introductory rates, for example, we bought a packet of 60 (called the economy pack) for £5.00 in Morrisons. They are available in 3 sizes - 4-9kg, 7-18kg and 11-25kg.
I have always used Pampers with my daughter. The Newborn ones at the beginning and then Baby Dry since then. Have to be honest and say that I do not think the new Simply Dry range is value for money.
You can feel the difference in quality as soon as you touch the nappy and it is not as thick as all of their other nappies. Now, I absolutely appreciate that the quality will be different as this is an economy range. What I do have a problem with is that these nappies do not lock in the wetness at all and my daughter has come out in a rash for the first time since using Pampers. You also have to change the nappy much more regularly as they became soaked and full very quickly. With Baby Dry my daughter can keep the same nappy on for 12 hours at night and still be dry in the morning. I would be lucky to get 2 or 3 hours with the Simply Dry nappy before she started leaking. We have started putting the Simply Dry on during the day and using the Baby Dry at night (only to try and use up the pack - if money wasn't an issue then I would have already stopped using them!)
I love Pampers and think it's a great think that they are trying to make budget products, however, I think most parents will find that when using Simply Dry they go through packs a lot quicker, thereby not actually saving money at all. Once this packet is finished I will not be repurchasing!
Summary: Budget range of nappies which won't save you money.

- 31/08/09 I know. As I said in the review, I think it's great they are doing a budget nappy but to let the quality slip so badly is surprising. |

- 31/08/09 I too have bought these I got the promo pack in Morrisions and I don't know what pampers are playing at. Who are these aimed at. They are cheap poor quailty nappies with the pampers brand on them. I bet the supermarkets own make are as good and cheaper so I think they poor value for money they are not the same high standard as a usual pampers nappy. I buy pamper baby dry as I trust them as an excellent nappy these simply dry are simply rubbish. |
