Pampers Simply Dry Nappies
Advantages: No nappy rash for my little one
Disadvantages: A little on the bulky side
The Pampers brand has been around for 40 years and is one of the most well known producers of nappies, usually thought of as slightly better quality than other makes and is reflected in their cost. Recently they introduced this 'Simply dry' range of nappies as a value range costing less than their other nappy ranges such as 'Baby dry' and 'Active fit' nappies. Possibly to compete against supermarkets own brands and maybe due to the economic climate.
After using Pampers 'New baby' nappy line which I was very happy with as a new mum I trusted the Pampers name and so when moving on from the new baby sizes I saw no problem keeping with Pampers and trying their other lines.
I understood before I brought them that these were their value range. You can see this clearly from the packaging which is a VERY bright orange and advertised quite heavily as a new cheaper line. Hard to miss on shelves in store!
The nappy itself is mainly white apart from a colourful band printed at the top of the front of the nappy with a little character on them such as a cat, with the name Pampers on one side of the character and the other has the number size of the nappy. No branded Disney or Sesame street logos on these adding to the cheaper look of the nappy. Although they do still feel soft it is more a polyester cheaper feeling fabric than their other ranges. The sides around the legs and tabs across the tummy are elasticated and adequate but not as elasticated as Pampers Active fit range. They secure in the traditional sticky tab fashion either side as other nappies and I have never had any problems with these.
The padding in the nappy itself is just as good as their other ranges and in actually fact now they have changed their Active fit nappies, Simply dry now have more padding. My daughter has never leaked out of these but she hasn't done that since a small baby so doesn't necessarily mean you won't have any issues. What I can say is after the Active fit nappies had the level of padding reduced she did develop nappy rash, changing back to these and it has cleared up! A sign that the name Simply dry is perfect for these nappies. The reason I used Active fit is I do find these a little bulky so as my daughter started to crawl and then walk Active fit seemed ideal however having a choice between a bulky bottom in her clothes or a sore bottom the bulky appearance wins.
Size 3 for 4-9kg
Size 4 for 7-18kg
Size 5 for 11-25kg
Hopefully they might increase the sizes on offer as time goes by.
Usually priced at around £5.99 for approx 44-50 nappies but supermarkets often have them on special offer at 2 packs for £10. I normally pay 10p per nappy for size 5.

Summary: Great competition to supermarkets own brands.
