Advantages: have a good weave design
Disadvantages: bit dry
Having a toddler means I have always got a packet or three of baby wipes around the house. I am certainly not loyal to any one brand, and will buy whatever is on offer at the time I need some. I really do begrudge spending £2.49 on average for a packet of around 72 wipes that are just used to clear up mess.
A few weeks ago Pampers were on a spectacular offer in Tesco for six packets for £3.72 which was such a bargain price I couldn't resist buying a few packs. I don't usually buy Pampers wipes, much preferring other brands, but as I said the price won totally.
Pampers wipes come in sensitive and normal. Personally after having used both over the years, I haven't found much difference in either. Even the fragrance appears just as strong in in the sensitive, so now I always buy the normal ones. The packet is a much prettier green colour than boring white.
A pack of wipes contain 72 large wipes. A packet will last me just over a week, depending on how often and how many I need to use each time.
Pampers market these wipes to contain lotion and are alcohol free. I do find they are quite wet at the start of the packet, but by the time you reach the bottom, the wipes have gone quite dry due to air gaps in the packaging. Other brands stay a lot more moisturised.
The wipes are a decent size and manage to cover my hand and then some. This is important when using wipes especially when changing a dirty nappy. Pampers wipes are made with a weave effect and makes them very stretchy unlike other brands. I do like this factor as it makes them slightly more absorbent that others I have used, which is useful for clearing up spills.
They do however feel a lot thinner than other brands which aren't so good when you have a particularly messy nappy.
When it comes to wiping bottoms, my daughter has never been particularly sensitive to fragranced products which are a godsend. She does however not appreciate any kind of wipe, sensitive or not if she has a sore bottom. I don't find these wipes help or bother her more than other brands at this stage, so these wipes come out on par for us in most situations.
Wiping hands is another matter altogether. I like the fact these wipes are stretchy which makes them larger and they tend to go a little further when having to wipe food stuffs away from hands and face.
My daughter will always try and wipe her own hands and arms, and likes to screw the wipes up to do so. I find this ruins a lot of wipes, as I have to then try and unravel a stiff wipe, but as these stretch, it's easy to fold them back to front to get a last quick wipe out of them.
Overall I think Pampers have improved since I last used them, and I am glad to have found them on offer. They perform well, and when you can find them on offer which quite often they are available for £1 per packet then you will get a good bargain from them.
Summary: an ok brand of wipes
