Advantages: Great handy little mats
Disadvantages: they are over-priced
I have to sing the praises of Pampers care mats, these have saved me from many an embarrasing moment! Pampers care mats are light, plastic backed sheets, with an absorbent top layer. They are available in two sizes (normal or large) and are available in packs of 7 or 14. While I was pregnant I knew that I wanted these for changing my new baby, but I did not want to spend so much money (£11.99 for 14) on them, the price was a huge off-putting factor, since then, they have halved the pack size to 7 for £5.99, which is still expensive, but it's slightly more affordable. I always carry one in my handbag as they are so light and fold up really small. They really come into their own when I'm travelling. If I can't find a changing table, I put my pram seat flat and put this under my baby while I change him, it saves my pram from any accidents. I also found it was great to change the baby while at my in-laws & parents houses, thanks to the care mats when my boy weed everywhere it was on the mat and not on the carpet! The uses for this mat are endless, I even met someone who said that she used them incase her waters broke in bed (I'm not quite sure if the mat would be enough for that though!) These mats are re-useable until they get wet or dirty which makes them last longer, but I still think that they are overpriced even if they are very useful. I have found a similar product available in Kiddicare, Cosi-mats 16 for £3.99 which is more like it! Why don't all the supermarkets do their own cheaper brand of these and give Pampers a run for their money as well as giving the customers a better deal?

- 11/10/00 I sat on something very similiar during my induction & yes my waters did go on it & not on the bed! I think it was a bit more absorbent than the Pampers mat though! |

- 09/10/00 they use these in maternity hospitals too! If you are mobile and they think your waters are going to go they make you stand on one! I said "ooh a pampers care mat" and the midwife said "we had them first"! |

- 30/09/00 They are a complete waste of money, when you can get a pvc one to wipe clean. Another sales gimic for people to fall for. |
