Advantages: Leak proof
Disadvantages: Can cause rash
Pampers and I have never got on. I feel that they are an incredibly over rated brand of nappy and not one that I have used with any regularity or through preference. I tried Pampers when my eldest was born. Evreyone I knew seemed to get on with them and starting with a recomended brand seemed like a good idea.......well, at the time anyway. I tried them and she got nappy rash. As a family with ezecma and dry skin this was a problem. Trip after trip to the doctor, and nothing seemed to clear it until we changed nappy. I never returned to Pampers. I have tried Pampers over the years with all my children - not on a big scale, usually just a borrowed one from a friend or a freebie through the post. All three of them break into severe nappy rash and dry skin the minute they try a Pampers. They are just not for us. I don't really know why this is the case but I have a theory. I personally have the theory that they are too airtight. All this emphasis on not leaking cuts down on the airflow round the baby's bum resulting in sore skin..........well that is my theory anyway, I could be totally wrong. There are many possibilities as to why we have a Pampers problem. It may be due to an allergy to a chemical used in the making or to the products used in the actual nappy. So, although many people swear by Pampers, they aren't perfect. If you have a dry skin problem, don't forget it may be the nappy.

- 07/10/00 I totally agree with you!
I had the same problems you mentioned in your review. With my 1st son, he has eczema as well, and I just couldn’t use the Pampers nappies, (Especially the Baby Dry ones in the greenish pack) with him at all, which was a shame, because everyone presumed that Pampers were the best, and I had loads of them, gifts from friends!
Luckily, I managed to swap them for Huggies- and didn’t have a single problem!
