Advantages: The most absorbent nappy, leakproof, excellent Velcro fastenings, the best

Disadvantages: The most expensive

Having a baby changes your life completely and suddenly 24 hours don't seem enough for one day! What with the million and one things you need to do for your baby, you really don't want to be changing your baby's clothes every few hours because of a leaky nappy.

As an expecting mum, I stocked up on the cheapest supermarket brands of nappy, and then when my baby was born I discovered that, where nappies are concerned, you get what you pay for!

Pampers may be one of the most expensive brands (£5.99 for a pack in the Midi size) but they really do guarantee you no leaks and my baby has never had the slightest hint of nappy rash in all her 5 months. The cheap brands leaked constantly, either from the sides or the back, and I was changing my baby's clothes 2 to 3 times a day just for that! Needless to say, I switched to Pampers straightaway and have never looked back.

Also, (on a bit of a disgusting note, sorry but it's relevant!) a breastfed babies' stools are really runny and difficult to contain in a nappy - impossible in the cheap brands! Pampers have very high backs, and nothing escapes!

They have sticky fastenings with a strip of Velcro on each side, so that if you need to open the nappy and put it on again, it still stays on. That is very practical, because with the cheap brands if you want to reposition the fastenings, they won't stay stuck down and more often than not you have to discard the nappy and use another one.

Pampers Premiums are the best nappies of their range, they have lotion in the edges of the nappy to protect your baby's legs. Although they are also the most expensive, I have received several money-off coupons of £1 for these, which brings the price down to that of the normal Pampers BabyDry.

I have also received at least 10 money-off coupons for the normal Pampers Babydry, from 50p to £1. I know it's a marketing ploy, but I would buy them anyway so they
are saving me money.

Even some of the other top brands like Huggies leak from time to time - Pampers, never. I recommend them to any parent, they really are the best in my view.

I'm feeling broody! When I had my first 25 years ago! there weren't such things as disposable nappies, yikes! But when I had the next, 11 years later there were (thank God)I just wish they had been as good as they obviously are now! I got a load of terry nappies given to me and never used them - they make great tea towels by the way - although you get some funny looks when drying the pots!

Pampers are also the only ones that do the extra large size, so if your baby takes his time being potty trained...as mine has, something to bear in mind for the future :-)
