Advantages: Kinder to eczema

Disadvantages: Leak at night

Attention to anyone using Pampers whose baby gets nappy rash! Try changing brands. My second daughter has such a sensitive bottom that I couldn't use baby wipes until she was six months old as they gave her nappy rash. I believe she is sensitive to the lotion in them. Pampers nappies come with lotion added to them, intended to help babies bottoms, but for my little girl, it simply caused her a very sore bottom. In fact I only bought one pack of Pampers for her, and the rash came back so consistently whenever I used them, I never finished the packet.

I don't have a problem with Pampers on the whole, and have used them for my older child, but if your child is prone to nappy rash, try eliminating sources of baby lotion (also including wipes) and you may well notice a big difference.

*****UPDATE******

As you can see I didn't like Pampers at all for my younger daughter, who is now 19 months. After Huggies changed recently and I had a few problems with them, I got some Pampers vouchers and decided to give them another try. I'm pleased to report that they are doing very well and I've permanently switched brands. Her sensitivity to lotions seems to have waned. She has now been diagnosed with infantile eczema, and I have found that Pampers baby dry seem to be the best disposable nappy for her at the moment. She recently had a flare up of the eczema on her bottom for the first time when we tried another brand, I changed back to Pampers and used her lotions for a few days and she's much better.

I would still say that they could improve for absorbency. Rebecca wears her nappy at night for 12 hours at least and nearly always has leaked in the morning. I find this with every brand though. Also I do notice gel crystals get through the nappy and are on her skin when I change her sometimes, which I don't like to see. It makes me wonder about all the chemicals in the nappy and how much they could be af
fecting her.

Having said all that, I'm broadly speaking a Pampers fan for daytime use at least now, and thought it only fair to share my change of view on the subject.

We didn't have this particular problem, thankfully, but found that Huggies fitted our little chap better. Sainsbury's were OK, too.

My daughter is exactly the same. I really like the fit of Pampers, but if I switch back to them she has nappy rash within a few days.
