Advantages: refastenable tapes, good leakage protection

Disadvantages: mesh rubs delicate skin

I usually purchase Pampers Baby Dry, but I was in a shop and they had a special on the larger pack of Pampers Premiums New Baby with Total Care. They advertise that the inner liner is made of a soft woven mesh that allows newborn liquid poo to absorb into the nappy better, in addition to the usual Pampers features such as a breatheable outer liner and refastenable tapes.

Seeing as my breastfed little darling was the right age and weight for them, i thought why not give them a try. I wish I had not bothered. The mesh liner felt extremely soft to my hands, but left an imprint of the weave on my daughter's bottom. The deepest of the imprint was on the innermost part of her bum cheeks, which became inflamed. Even with nappy cream and gentle cleansing, this then became a raw mesh patterened rash by day 3.

So the mesh may have been soft, but not soft enough for a baby's delicate and sensitive skin. As for improved soft poo absorbency, forget it. Yes, the bits that were directly over the holes in the mesh went straight to the core. However, most of the poo stayed right where it was in all its liquid yuckiness and had to be wiped off as usual. I actually have to say that my usual pampers Bay Dry nappies performed better in the sofy poo department. I had to wipe off far less when using those, compared to these so called Premiums.

On day 3, I gave up on these nappies, and purchased another pack of our usiual. Within 24 hours of returning back to the Baby Dry variety, the rawness abated, and by day 5 it was gone. So here is a tip, save your money. These premiums are only a premium
waste of good cash.

I agree with Kimberly,my son and daughter at various times used Pampers, becausew we felt they were the leading brand on the market, well i do feel that the name alone can't save this kind of nappy. My son was sore while we used pampers,so we moved onto other brands (may as well give them all a fair chance)The pampers used to leave an imprint on my sons bottom and they also left his bottom feeling damp, hense the soreness.

Rating ?well 5 out of 10,nice packaging, shame about the nappy.
