I'm sorry, I'm not a big fan of pampers, I bought a pack of them when my baby was first born and at first they were fine. Unfortunately the explosions that came from my baby were too much for the nappies to handle. I found that these nappies leaked more than others that I have tried and I don't like the chemical smell they give off.
I do use terry nappies but I do use disposable nappies as well, I'm sorry, Pampers arn't the disposables for me.
I'm not too sure on prices, pampers seem to be the more expensive.
I do like the idea of the pampers playmat, it gives you the option of leaving a nappy off and just letting your baby kick, it soaks up all the little accidents. They are expensive though, approx £10 for a bag, I just use a terry nappy under the bum and when a little accident occurs, remove that one and put a fresh one there.
