~~~What is a Popo?~~~
Made in Austria, these popular nappies are a one sized shaped nappy that adjust by a series of poppers that you snap together to alter the size. You fasten the nappy closed with velcro and use a nappy covering called a wrap to prevent wetness escaping.
This nappy is really a design concept as it actually comes in a wide variety of styles to fit your indivual needs or style. For those requiring high absorbency, there is a cotton terry version, which is available in a further three different styules. If you prefer organic products, you can get it in 100% organic cotton terry. it is thicker than the other terry options, so be aware that it will take longetr to dry than any other version. If you are worried about bleaches, you can get it in an unbleached terry. if you like cut prints, it is also avaiable in a variety of assorted fun prints.Both the unbleached and the patterned terry fabric are only 85% cotton, as there is 15% polyester woven through the outer fabric for strength and durability, but only 100% cotton is ever next to your baby's bottom. The polyester weave also means these are the stretchist of all the versions, so is likely to fit a baby up to 35 and a bit pounds.
For lighter wetters, there are two verions of the Snap to Fit (or UltraFit as it has been renamed) made in soft brushed cotton flannelette. The flannette version is all cotton with the exception of the sewn in "soaker pad" which is polyester. The polyester soaker pad dries a little bit quicker than the all cotton versions, but only by about 10-15 minutes. It is thicker and stiffer between the legs as well, so I am not certain it is as nice and comfy as the terry towelling.You can get the flannelette in unbleached or in assorted patterns as well, to suit your fancy.
~~~Performance~~~
Now for the performance bit. These nappies are very absorbent, however for heavy wetters, an extra booster is a great idea. For stay dry skin, you will want to use a liner. I use a fleece topped booster so I can just pop one in and be done with it. for going all night, I would choose a terry version as it is more absorbent than the flannelette, though still needs said booster added. I buy my boosters from Plushpants and the occasional WAHM, so just look on your nappy seller's website, I'm certain you wll find some. Mind you, if next to free is what you need, you can also cut up a fleece jumper or blanket to make a stay dry liner, and use ordinary face flannels folded into threes for a booster. Simply lay the flannel inside, then top with the fleece, then fasten nappy closed. Easy!

~~~Cost~~~
Ranging in price from £8.50 to £9.50 each, they are excellent value as these are likely to the only nappies your child will need. The exception being a sumo child such as DD who was at the end of the weight range at age 2 and a bit, or a tiny preeemie baby, who probably would do best started in muslins. If this sounds like a lot of money to you, stop and think how much a week you will be spending on disposables. Right...about £8 a week from week one, on up as you need more than one pack because pack sizes get smaller. If you wish to go with a birth to potty nappy, you can easily spread out the cost over 9 months by ordering 1-2 a week until you have all 20 nappies, and 2-4 wraps in each size, for a total cost of about £200. The nice thing about the wraps is you can just get the first sizes and sell them on at 75% value to fund the next size up, and if you have a second child or even a third child, you only need to have bought once as these are very durable nappies. If this is your last child, you can sell on the nappies after potty training for at least 50% value, so you end up saving even more.
~~~What kind of cover do I need?~~~
Popolino make wraps, but any wrap that fits over a shaped nappy would work. You can purchase these at Twinkle Twinkle (www.twinkleontheweb)and from Lollipop (www.lollipop.co.uk). as well as other fine online nappy retailers.

~~Care~~~

These nappies are also extremly easy to care for. You can either soak in a nappy bucket with water and your chosen additive, or dry in the pail. You simply rinse the poo out, or if you use a liner, flush the disposable liner down the loo with the poo on it. The waste treatment plant or septic tank breaks it down same as loo roll. Then pop into the bucket until ready to wash. Washing is best done at 40-60 degrees (if you use a sanitising agent such as tea tree oil or vinegar or Nappy Fresh, 40 degrees is fine), then line or tumble dry. These nappies do not unfold at all, so are not a great choice to be your main nappy if you must line dry as they take 6 hours or more to air dry. Therefore, if looking for a birth to potty system, I personally would recommend Babylife one sizes for day use (they are super absorbent flannette and the absorbent bit unfolds for speed drying) and the terry Ultrafits for at night so you will have enough nappies dry when you need them without having to buy scads of extra nappies.

~~~My Verdict~~~
Excellent value, especially if you have access to a dryer, though for line drying, not my fave system. I have to say that my son wore these after my daughter though, and I still sold these on for slightly more than 50% of the original new price, so definitely a bargain when all was said and done. Performance wise these also proved an excellent choice. My chubby daughter suffered no marks about her legs from the cuffs, and my bird legged baby son suffered no runny leaks either. As an overnight nappy they also proved quite useful. My children were able to sleep comfortably wearing this nappy, feeling dry thanks to a fleece liner I inserted, and I had no wet clothes or bedding to deal with. I found overnight worked best for us also with a fleece wrap, such as the Tots Red Wrap. My son also suffered an intestinal disorder, and his explosive output was also well contained, which is more than I can say for many a name branded disposable I used in the past with my first three kids. I give this nappy two thumbs up and plan to get some for the new (and first) grandbaby who arrives this October. Just call me Granny LOL
Summary: Popolino snap to fit makes a great choice for a fitted shaped nappy
