Advantages: A good idea in theory
Disadvantages: Expensive and there are easier alternatives
I was given one of these when I was about to potty train my daughter.
In theory, it is a fabulous idea - when you're out and about, and your child suddenly announces that they need a wee NOW, you can wip the pottete off the bottom of the pram.
The pottete is a plastic ring like the top of a potty, with two legs that fold inwards. Then you have a disposable plastic liner with an absorbant pad in it to line the pottete with.
Firstly, if you're out and about with a pushchair, which you probably are, then the pottete doesn't take up that much less space than a potty. You could sling the potty into the pushchair basket, and just empty it in a bush.
Secondly, its not needed much for boys - they can wee in a plastic bottle or up a tree. I haven't bothered getting the pottete out for my son. And girls can, quite often, hang on long enough for you to find a toilet. My daughter refused to sit on the pottete, and so had to hold on while we got to a toilet. This was when I discovered that she has a bladder made in Scotland from girders!
I can see that the pottete might be handy if your children tend to suddenly and urgently need a poo. You can't do that behind a bush, really. But it's easier to carry a nappy to put on them, or for them to squat over, than to carry the pottete.
The pottete is quite expensive, and the disposable liners are another cost. It just doesn't seem worth it, really.
Summary: Don't bother unless you can try one for free
