Advantages: All the little bits you think you need as a first time mum to be

Disadvantages: All the bits that gather dust when you realise you don't

While this is sold as 'essentials' for baby and as such seems like a good gift for a new mother or parent to be, I found it very Americanised and didn't use many of the products with it.

It includes
Nail Clipper - these are handy to have and it's much easier to cut a baby's nails with these than scissors or adult sized nail clippers

Nasal Aspirator - never used it, or felt the need, yet American friends seem to be recommended to stick this up their baby's nose every time they have a cold (and they got them free from the hospital when giving birth)

Medicine Spoon & Medicine Syringe (both of these come with the medication when you buy it / get it on prescription so I don't see the need for it)

Digital Thermometer - personally I never felt the need to take an exact temperature on any of my children but if you'd like to know this is one that you can hold under the infant's arm - beware they will cry at you holding their arm still

Toddler Toothbrush - it's not specially wrapped so I didn't want to use it when their teeth came in months later

Brush and Comb - handy if you have a baby with hair, mine were bald - not safety 1st fault

No Scratch Mittens - good to stop baby scratching his or her face

Baby Scissors - I don't like the idea of scissors near baby, I think I'll cut them instead of nails so prefer the clippers

Tweezers - not used them on baby and can't work out when I would

Emery Boards -you can smooth the edges of their nails down, but I ended up using this on my own nails

Summary: Filled of all the gadgets that seem like a good idea but you don't actually use
