Advantages: free's your hands to wash babys hair and play

Disadvantages: doesnt support very well, baby gets stuck under the top support, genitals get crushed!!

We bought this chair for our son when he was 5 months old, as he had outgrown his small baby bath, was too wriggly to hold over the side of the adult bath, and we didnt see the point in buying one of the bath supports meant for younger babies at that point. Really, we should have waited until he was 6 months old, as that is what the manufacturer states it is suitable from, but it didn't really matter as he was obviously going to be supervised all the time he was in the chair.

When we first put him into it, we found that he slumped down and crushed his boys bits, and got his shoulders stuck under the bar as well! So at first we were still having to support him in it a great deal. We found that once he was sitting unaided outside the bath, he was also able to support himself a little better inside the bath in the chair too.

The good thing about the swivel seat is that it free's up your hands to do things like wash and rinse babies hair, and because you arent breaking your back by holding baby up, baby is able to enjoy bath time a little more and play and splash in the water. It is impossible to give baby a proper wash whilst in the seat though, so we sit him in the seat for a few minutes while we play with him and wash his hair, then take him out and lay him in the bath to sponge him down.

The newer version of the chair has a slightly bigger "toy" on the front, which is the one we have, and as soon as he gets in the seat he does play with it a little but soon becomes bored.

I do have one major problem with the seat though - the suckers are good enough to stop the seat from lifting, but it still slides around, so it doesnt feel particularly sturdy in that respect. My son is now 7 months old and I dont think we will be able to put him in it much longer as he is able to move it around by digging his feet in! By doing this he has managed to bang his head on the side of the bath.

All in all, it was a good buy, but dont expect it to last longer than a couple of months. Once baby sits well enough unaided to be able to sit in the bath without one you wont want to use it anyway.

Summary: helpful but not essential
