Advantages: Cheap, fragrance free and non irritant.

Disadvantages: Will end up with egg on your face or _ _ _ _ on your hands!!

I am one of these people that think that supermarket own brands are often just as good as the more expensive brands. I'm sure a lot of supermarket own brands are made by the same folk as the market leaders, but not in this case!

I bought a '6 pack' of Sainsbury's extra thick, fragrance free wipes the other day, because they were on special offer. I usually go between about 5 different brands depending on where I'm shopping and whats on special offer.

My kids don't tend to have sensitive skin, and I prefer to use fragranced wipes, but these were a bargain.

The wipes themselves, are not terribly soft to touch, and create a small amount of friction on the skin. They are very moist, although quite watery and you need extra tissues to dry the skin before applying a nappy.

The wipes are thick and relatively heavy compared to other brands. Unfortunately they tend to stick together when you only need one. Having taken a wipe, the next does not pop up from the packet as it would with other brands. This tends to leave you fumbling to find the edge of the fabric wipe each time you need a clean one, whilst trying to keep a bottom, and the attatched baby in one place. You more often than not end up with 5 or 6 wipes at a time giving a little bottom a total drenching.

Although thick, the wipes are very easily torn(often before even being used, when removing from packet), you need a wipe to stay together if a nappy change is to remain hygienic and not too gruesome!!

As you would expect from a fragrance free wipe, no skin irritations have occurred with my little market researchers. The wipes have obviously been tested well as far as that is concerned. However, I am not sure how they found their way onto the supermarket shelf. I recently took part in market research for a well known brand of nappies, and I would certainly not have given a good feed back of these wipes if I had had to use these for 2 we
eks, as I did the nappies.

In the future I will tend to stick to brands(including supermarket own), that are softer, non irritant, and don't tear in half when you really could do without it.

Got to agree with you -I only tried them once and wouldn't use them again. I stick to Johnsons

I agree I tried them and never again! I prefer to use Johnsons or Pampers, they cost more but you don't use as many and they aren't sopping wet.
