I love using all of Johnson's baby products including baby bath. I use it in the bath when I'm not using a Lush bubble bar as I love the smell and it leaves my skin soft as well. However, the price of Johnson's baby bath has gone up and while in Sainsbury's I was looking for a cheaper alternative. As well as my usual baby bath I picked a bottle of this which was on the bottom shelf. I managed to find one bottle that wasn't leaking. At 34p I thought I would try it and if I didn't like it, I would use it as hand wash or find some other use for it.

The bottle is basic which I can't complain about for the price. It's white with a sticker all around it with the usual sainsbury's basics orange writing. The bottle is made of plastic which is quite thin and therefore easy to squeeze.

The actual baby bath is a bright blue which is not much different to my usual and has quite a strong chemical scent which becomes the clean, fresh scent I adore when used in the bath. I pour a bit more than I usually would under running water (it's only 34p!) and even though I live in a hard water area and find it hard to make enough bubbles in the bath, this foamed up nicely. The bubbles and scent remained for the whole bath and, made the water soft and my skin feel clean.

I don't have sensitive skin and I can't comment on it being gentle enough for babies skin, but as this is so cheap, I was expecting it to irritate a little, but I have experienced nothing.
I honestly can't see myself going back to more expensive versions, this does the job and saves those all important pennies.

        Nice smelling liquid.

I have a lot of grandchildren and they sleep at my home on a regular basis and usually take it in turns to make it fair to them all and when I spotted this baby bath product I thought I would try it to see if it suited them as it was so cheap, I had not tried this one before and so I thought it was cheap enough to buy to give it a go.

It comes in a white plastic bottle with screw off top, it is very basic looking but for the cheaper products in this range it is the usual Orange and White so it can be spotted on the shelves easily. For 500ml it is only 11p and not to be sniffed at for the amount in the bottle. I think it is worth the price and good value for money, I mean 11p, how can you go wrong for that price.

The amount of bubbles it creates is quite good, I usually pour a little into the bath under the running water and the bubbles are enough for the little ones to bathe in the water and have fun, I would say this one is a very mild and gentle bath liquid. The smell is really nice and although it is not as strong as a branded bath liquid, I do think for 11p Sainsbury's have manufactured a nice one with this product. The children like to play for a long time when they bath at my home, as lots of children love bath time and the length of time they have been bathing has not effected their delicate skin at all.

This cleans my grandchildren's skin and they have not had any rashes etc because the quality is quite good. I have been using this one for about a month or so and there is half the amount left in the bottle because a small amount is needed and so a little goes a very long way.

The texture of the liquids is soft and smooth, it lathers very well for my liking, I think the bottle is a nice size to hold to pour into a bath and it is not too bulky and easy hold with one hand, sometimes it can be hard to pour from bigger bottles when you are bathing a baby or young child but this one is fine.

I have used this one to bathe one of my baby grandchildren who is under a year old and it has been nice and mild for the bath time, the liquid has not left any dry patches on the skin and it has left the skin nice and soft. I do obviously prefer the branded bath liquids but this is one I thought I would give a go because it was so cheap and I wondered if it worked so I would know if funds were a little low. It is Christmas and I like to save money when I can and I am happy I bought this one because I think it suit's the children quite nicely. It cleans the feet, hands and refreshes the children just how I like a product to work.

Simple to use, nice smelling and so for the price what more could be better and I recommend this one for others to give it a go and for the price it cannot be sniffed at and if you do not like it, not a lot of money is wasted with this one. I would buy this one again as I think it is a nice one.

        I rate it 5 stars.

So glad I took a chance and give this a fair go. Good Product.

I think that there is sometimes a stigma attached to buying value or basic when it comes to your children, but I've always been of the opinion that it never hurts to try something once. And with Sainsbury's Basic Baby Bath I'm really glad I did.

At a mere 34p for 500ml it is substantially cheaper than leading brands and while the 'basic' packaging design isn't going to win any glamour awards, it is sturdy and the cap stays on tightly. We've had no leaks despite it being knocked over a good few times. There are a lot of ingredients listed, and not being an expect I can't really shed any light with real authority as to what they represent. Aqua is of course its main ingredient as you would expect and there are parfum and Benzyl Alcohol listed lower in the list. For more information I'd suggest you check out the Sainsbury's website which gives a comprehensive list.

In terms of how well it works, well I've few complaints. It produces lots of bubbles for only a small amount of liquid, and what's more they last for the duration of my son's bath which is quite long. When it comes to cleaning it does the job and no scummy marks around the bath tub afterward, which for me implies that it's not a greasy substance.

The bottle states that it is 'Mild and Gentle', so it doesn't make the same 'no tears' promise as other brands, but we've had no incidents so far, despite epic splashing. We switched to this about 4 months ago because we were going through the expensive stuff far too quickly, and this has certainly proved it's worth by going a long way for little cost. Would I have used this on a new born? Perhaps not, simply because you're so cautious in the early months and you do assume brand is best, but having said that I'd at give it a try if I had another baby. Certainly for children 6+, or those moving into a proper bath this should be fine.

My one real qualm? That would have to be the aroma. It's pleasant enough, not offensive by any means, but I love the Lavender scent of other baby baths, and I know that it can help children relax. This is rather nondescript, slightly fruity I suppose, but mostly just soapy.
