Sainsbury's 'Basics' Nappy Bags
Disadvantages: thin and tear
This is a review Sainsbury's Nappy Bags which I have tried alongside other brands of supermarket's own brand nappy bags. I found these on sale one time and couldn't believe the price so stocked up on loads of them.
The bags are green in colour and have a light inoffensive smell to them. It can be tricky to remove one from the packet at a time.
To use you just insert the contents (a used nappy) and then tie the handles. We often use two at once to contain the smell and mask the contents as they are a bit see through and a nappy plus wipes can be a little challenging for the flimsiness of these bags. I know other people use them to pick up dog poop and we also keep dirty clothes and bibs in them when out and about so they do have multiple uses really.
Price and purchase decision
At the time I bought them, a pack of 100 bags cost 12p and I am in two minds about this. The first being why spend more on something to keep dirty nappies in. But I do keep returning to the slightly better made and more expensive branded bags in that I prefer the quality of these and they tend to be less see through and more reliable. Then I think they are such a bargain and go back and buy the cheapo ones again so I am really undecided on whether they are a good or bad thing.
Why do they sell these so cheap?
There is a lot of psychology behind the whole concept of shopping but basically, supermarkets often sell certain items at a loss to get you through the door and filling your trolley with other things. For example if you buy your nappy bags there, you are likely to buy your nappies there too and loyalty to one supermarket chain is worth them virtually giving away the nappy bags.
These bags are OK. You certainly can't complain for the money they cost but I do find they are very cheap, see through and easily rip. I keep going back though so they do have a certain lure through the cheapness!
If you are ever out and about and forget your nappy sacks it can be a bit of a bad experience and I do feel that you should use these in public baby change rooms to help keep the smell down (although a lot of people don't use them, that's for sure). These little bags are handy and have lots of uses such as keeping dirty bibs and clothes contained in your bag. As they are fragranced, just don't keep your sandwiches in one of these!
Summary: Good to have when out and about
