Sangenic nappy wrapper
I first came across this product when I was pregnant with my son Jack who is now 3 months old a friend of mine who has a young child was talking about the Sangenic nappy wrapper and how it was ideal for us as we live in Cyprus. Looking after other friends' kids over the years and smelling nappies put in the normal kitchen bin normally churned my stomach, especially in Cyprus as the heat can accumulate to 40 degrees Celsius in the mist of summer. A lot of families wouldn't see this item as an essential but because of the climate over here I thought it would be more beneficial for us to have this then to put the nappies in the normal waste bin. I therefore thought I better look into this product further, I found the Sangenic starter kit which came with 3 cassettes and I purchased that alongside a further 6 cassettes due to the postal waits being around 6 weeks I thought it would be better to stock up than run out.
The first thing I noticed on the box was a vital piece of information and a great asset of the product; it proudly claims that the bin kills 99.9% of germs on contact. It also boosts of its odour protection, I definitely agree with this we have our nappy changing station down stairs in the living room which is the most convenient for us due to space and where we spend the majority of our time in the house. At first I was a bit dubious to whether or not it would be wise to have the bin in here as well as I automatically presumed you would still get a slight smell from the bin, I was completely wrong! I have never smelt anything in the house and neither have any guests who have been to the house. The temperatures at the moment are in the late teens but I am confident that the result will be the same in summer. The bin itself is plain white with a pop down lid that has a dark silver/grey circle with the brand and product name on. They say that the bin can hold 28 size 3 nappies and I would agree with that or there about, obviously this will change with the size of nappies you are using as well.
The cassettes last longer than the bin takes to fill, however all you do is cut the end with the handy built in cutter tie the top of the nappies in the bin and remove, and then re tie the remaining cassette and lock it into place, it is extremely easy to use and even comes with instructions if you are unsure of what to do. The way in which the wrapper works is that once the cassette is in place and tied off at the end, you simply lift the lid, press the nappy right down into the bins opening or use the plunger which is to the lid and you just have to shut the lid to operate, then you twist the cassette to lock around the nappy and close the lid again and it's done! Simple! When the bin is full and they nappies have been removed they come out all individual wrapped, they look slightly like a off putting string of sausages, ones that you wouldn't want to eat that's for sure, we then place them in a garbage bag and put them straight into the black wheelie bins ready for collection. The cassettes are said to last around 1 month and again this will depend on the frequency in which your baby is having their nappy changed and also the size of the nappies which are being used.
I think this is an essential product to have in any nursery or at your changing station, it keeps smells at bay and leaves your house free from nasty odours!
Summary: A must have for all parents with children of a nappy wearing age
