Advantages: Kind to baby's skin, do the job well
Disadvantages: Not as 'pretty' as other brands of wipes - but who cares?
When I looked after my 22 month old granddaughter yesterday I was surprised to find a packet of wipes in her changing bag that was neither Huggies or Johnsons, so surprised in fact that I rang her mum to check these were the correct ones as my daughter is an appalling brand snob when it comes to the children's toiletries.
It turns out she thinks these are better than her usual wipes and she discovered them after a nasty bout of nappy rash my granddaughter suffered, during the outbreak she used plain water and cotton wool and it was actually her GP who recommended these Simple baby wipes with the added recommendation of these being the wipes she used on her own twin boys.
They are much plainer in appearance than other wipes, being more like the old Wet Ones with no texturing or pretty patterns embossed on them. Personally this is fine as I fail to see the need for embossing Pooh Bear onto a wipe which is basically going to be used for wiping poo of a very different sort off baby's bottom!
The wipes are fragrance free so as to be kind to baby's skin, to me they smell a little bit like plastic but not in a terrible way just almost as if the wipes have taken on the general aroma of the plastic packet they come in. To be honest I do miss the 'baby smell' of Johnsons wipes but these are certainly kinder to my granddaughter's skin and that is the main thing to consider.
I found they work well on all types of, well, mess. One wipe is all I need to change a wet nappy and judging by the size and thickness of each wipe I believe I could get away with using just one for the real messy nappies, although I tend to use two for this as this Nanny doesn't want baby poo underneath her fingernails thank-you-very-much! They cope well with both wet and dirty bottoms, the wipes down fall apart or become so thin that you might as well be using your hands to clear up the mess.
I have also used them to wipe my granddaughter's face and hands if she's been playing in the garden and this was a test of sorts as when I use the fragranced wipes her skin becomes a little spotty, although this doesn't cause her any irritation whatsoever it does look awful so I was relieved to find these Simple wipes didn't cause this problem at all and left her with a shiny clean face.
The best thing about these Simple wipes is the price, this packet of 80 wipes cost just £1.49 which is a bargain considering the last packet of Huggies wipes I bought cost me around £1 more. I have had a look at the packet and I cannot see why more people don't use these wipes on their baby, cost is never really an issue when it comes to what I buy for my granddaughters' but to find a quality product like this at such a low price is excellent.
Summary: An excellent baby wipe with no perfume or colour so as to be as kind as possible to your baby.
