Advantages: Snap shut lid
Disadvantages: Too soggy, nasty texture
I bought Superdrug's own brand of baby wipes because they were on special offer one week. As we all know, baby wipes are horrendously expensive, but they come into the category of items so useful, the cost outweighs the alternative (as any new mum will know, cotton wool balls and lukewarm water are not the best for getting that horrid sticky poo from your little one's perfectly pert botty cheeks) so I went ahead and purchased 2 packs (it was buy one get one free - how can anyone resist an offer with the word 'free' in it?) I wish I hadn't. Although I will say that the snap-shut lid was really good (fantastic for keeping the wipes moist, and unlike the re-stickable type of cover lasts right to the end of the pack), that was about the only positive thing you could say about them. I found the wipes so sodden with 'moisturising baby lotion' that on most occasions I was physically wringing them out before I could get any proper use out of them. The amount of liquid coming out of them was amazing. A side-effect of this over-moistness was that the wipes were as clingy as Pavarotti's shirt on a hot day. If you pulled them out one-handedly (as, of course, you would normally be doing, whilst trying to stop a wriggly baby from rolling off the changing mat - and so saving yourself an embarrassing trip to Casualty) you'd get five or more at a time and would end up wrestling with them just to get them free of the pack. (I might add here that even small babies can pick up on swear words, so really, for the sake of our children's moral future, we should refrain from using these sorts of wipes.) I also found that the wipes were not as soft as I would have liked either. In summary, although a lot can be said about the packaging, the wipes were far too soggy and slippery to be able to get a grip on baby's bottom in order to clean off the poo. They also feel quite cheap and papery and although the fr
agrance is quite nice, they really aren't worth buying, even if they're cheaper than the named brands. Sorry!

- 24/03/02 I wish more of the top brands used snap shut lids - they are so much better. Good wipes with the snap lid are tesco's own brand. Kerry |

- 24/03/02 I agree with you 100%.
I now get mine from a local £1 shop... They are in the older type "stick down top packs", but you get 100 for your quid, and they are thicker and a lot dryer... Look around is my advice, there are loads on sale cheaper now.
