Advantages: reusable, multi-purpose, cheaper, kinder to environment

Disadvantages: have to wash, not throw away

Now on our third child. . . . terry nappies have been our choice for the last 10 years, with three kids- mainly because of the environmental cost to landfill sites, but also because of the lesser cost to our pockets [a profitable synergy for the earth]. Terries are not only nappies, but also oh so useful mop up cloths for any of those ucky moments that kids have- our third baby is a bit sicky, so you normally see us with baby and terry over shoulder to catch/clean those lovable nasties. When the little boys get a little larger, they are great for mopping up the toilet misses when master hasn't quite mastered directional control while weeing.
Spill control at adult parties also comes into play- beer, wine, taramasalata: the terry takes it all in its stride, and comes out of the wash smiling and ready for more
