“ Manufacturer: Tesco / Type: Baby Lotion „
Although the product is made for babies, I use this for things such as removing my foundation, moisturising my skin and as an eye-make remover.
This product is so gentle on my skin and leaves it unbelievably soft. When I take off my eye make-up with any other product my eyes are left sore and there's always some traces left behind, but Tesco's Baby Lotion doesn't hurt, leave redness and removes it all.
The smell of this product is lovely, like all baby products smell nice. This one for me has the nicest smell compared to other products I have used before - it's smell is pleasing and seems naturalal though I can't pinpoint exactly what it's of!!
The product isn't oily/greasy as some other lotions/moisturisers can be and won't leave your face feeling dirty or oily after.
The packaging has a flip lid and so is easy to dispense, you don't have to scrape around pots, it flows out easily but it doesn't overflow out so the product doesn't go to waste.
Tesco's Baby Lotion is MUCH cheaper than other products that you can use for removing make-up or other baby products is generally and works just as well!!
I bought this for myself as I usually use Johnson's products on my son and daughter, but there too expensive to use on myself all of the time as well.
I bought this as it was next to all the other baby products and looked pretty in its pale pink bottle. It was also only £1 for a 500ml bottle which I thought was a really good bargain.
It comes with a flip lid which I was pleased to say flipped up and down nice and easy even when my hands were a little bit slippy from the cream.
The cream itself had a very mild floral fragrance which smelt quit sweet which I liked, it was also a good thickness as most of the creams seem to be to runny and pour out the bottle too quick, however this doesn't. It rubs into the skin really easily and is absorbed quickly meaning you can get dressed straight away without feeling stick as this cream leaves no greasiness on your skin.
After your skin has the very mild scent and is also lovely and soft.
I have even used this on my children's skin and am pleased to say that it is also very mild and sensitive to there skin and so doesn't cause any rashes or dry out the skin which is great.
I adore the smell of baby products such as baby bath and baby lotion. I regularly use a baby lotion product instead of a body cream or moisturiser as I love the smell so much, but I also find most baby products are really gentle on my sensitive skin and seldom cause any ill-effects.
I had bought a few items from the 'Tesco Baby' range a while back and had put them away until I needed them. I came across the products recently and decided to give them a try out. One of the products was the 'Tesco My Baby's Lotion' and I believe I paid under £1 for the bottle of lotion in Tesco a few months back.
The packaging is quite pretty-looking, and consists of a pastel pink coloured bottle that is made of robust plastic. I believe that packaging such as this is widely recycled. There is a flip top lid at the top of the bottle, through which I can dispense the baby lotion. I do believe that the Tesco baby range has been given a bit of an re-launch recently and the packaging for this particular product has now changed as a result, however I believe the product is the same and it is only the packaging that has changed. (This is a bit of a shame because the bottle that I have is extremely attractive looking and there is an adorable design and cute picture on the bottle).
Anyways, when using the lotion I found that the smell was really lovely. It was exactly as I wanted it to be, and wasn't overly strong or at all cheap and nasty. It really smelled to me like any other brand of baby lotion that I would buy on a regular basis and I was very pleased. To me the smell is quite soapy, and it has a fresh, uplifting quality to it.
The lotion has quite a thick consistency which I was fairly surprised at. Many 'cheaper' branded baby lotion products that I have purchased in the past have been of a fairly poor quality and many of them have had a thin, runny consistency which I have found off-putting. Not only does this mean that the lotion is usually messier to use, but I tend to find that thin runny lotions create quite a lot of waste, as it is difficult to gauge how much of the lotion I actually need at the time. I was impressed with the 'Tesco My Baby's Lotion' and its thick, luxurious consistency.
I found that the Tesco lotion was easy enough to use, and I had no major problems with it being absorbed into my skin. It didn't seem to take longer to rub into my skin, nor did it leave a sticky 'wet' feeling on my arms and legs once I had applied it. I found that it was absorbed fairly quickly and this was further proof to me that the product was one of a fairly high quality.
I would have been horrified if I had suffered any ill-effects after using this product, especially considering the target audience it has been designed for, so I am pleased to report that the only after-effects I noticed were lovely soft skin, as well as a light, gorgeous scent that remained on my skin for a good couple of hours after I had used the product. The product caused no irritation to my sensitive skin, nor did it aggravate the eczema that I suffer from at times.
I know that some people use baby lotion as a make-up remover product, and I have also used various lotions for this purpose in the past but I have not tried this particular product to take my make-up off as I have a very high quality make-up remover that I am happy with. However, I wouldn't hesitate to use this lotion for this purpose as I think the quality is really good and I would have no problem with using it on my face or near my eyes.
Overall, I was very pleased with the results achieved from the 'Tesco My Baby's Lotion' and I have thoroughly enjoyed using it after bath time. I find the scent of the product is particularly appealing when used at bedtime or in the evening, and I find it rather comforting. I would have no hesitation in using the product on a little one, and I am keen to try out more baby products from this range due to having liked this lotion product so much, and the fact that the product was such a good price.
There is a whole range of Tesco Baby products available in their supermarkets, or you can purchase the products online at their website which can be found at www.tesco.com.
I have lots of grandchildren and always buy a baby lotion to have at hand for when they come to visit my home. I buy lots of shops own brands as well as a well known brand in the shops. I recently bought this one because I was trying to cut down on my shopping bill and was looking for cheaper products. This lotion is one that we found at the back of the cupboard recently and have been using it before we use the Johnson's one that we bought recently.
It is housed in a plastic bottle and it has a flip back lid, the bottle is pink in colour and it is quite a cheap price, it was priced at around £1 at the time of purchase for the 500ml. The lotion has a nice smell to it and one that I think is quite good strong smell for the cheap price. It does have that baby smell fragrance and is a very pleasant smell. It does not drip from the bottle because it has a thick consistency and not a runny one as I thought it would have when I first set eyes on it and then bought it. I just thought it would be too runny and messy while massaging it into the skin but I was wrong, this one has quite a rich texture and flows nicely from the bottle.
It soaks into the skin nicely and dries in no time at all and my grandchildren's skins have never had any skin irritations. It moisturises the skin to leave it nice and soft. It is one that does not feel sticky or tacky on the skin after applying it. It just feels nice and smooth and soft as it should feel after applying baby lotion. It is a nice mild, gentle lotion and one that I do like a lot for the price. It can also be used in the same way as a branded one and my wife uses this one to remove make up at the end of the day and she finds it does not sting the eyes when using it because it is a gentle lotion. It also moisturises the hands while applying it to the children's skin and so a little bonus.
Although this is not my first choice for a baby lotion as I love the Johnson's brand, it does get full marks from me for the quality of it and the good value for money. It is Tesco's middle brand and one that I do recommend if you are on a lower budget and looking for a cheaper lotion, this one is suitable for all the family, not just for the child's skin. It is good value for money and a real penny saver. I would definitely buy it again because I am happy with the way it moisturises the skin.
I rate it 5 stars.
I like to use nice smelling creams and lotions on my grandsons skin when he has a shower at my home and it is important to use a nice gentle one too, as the little ones have very delicate skin as some adults do too, I bought this one from Tesco own range of lotions but it is not the Value range and I thought since I was trying to save some money recently I would buy it to see how we go along with it and also because I read a very good review on it here at dooyoo and thought it sounded lovely for my grandson.
It comes in a pretty pink plastic bottle with a flip lid, and it cost only just over £1 for 500ml, and I think the amount for the price is just amazing, the lotion is a nice lovely soft texture, and it has a really nice fragrance to this one, it is extremely soft while applying it onto the skin, I just poured a little onto the palms of my hands and massaged it gently into my grandsons skin, it did not irritate his skin at all, and it soaked into his skin quite quickly.
I found that his skin was lovely and soft after I applied the lotion, I think it is a really nice thickness and found it did not run all over when I poured it from the bottle as some lotions can, I really loved the feel of it on his skin and it moisturised it perfectly, I have also used this a couple of times on my own body and found it really suits my sensitive skin too.
My grandson loves being pampered and always has done since he was a couple of weeks old and my daughter took him to a baby massage class, he has been used to having lots of creams etc rubbed into his skin and he loves the feel of them as it always makes him laugh and giggle, it does take some time to do the massaging though because we have so much fun at the same time and that is what it is all about with the little ones when applying this type of lotion etc.
I think it is excellent value for money and it is a very good quality lotion, and for the price, it is an amazingly good price and affordable too for anyone who is trying to save some money and trying lower branded products, I have used this on my feet a couple of times to soften them after my shower, and it has been absolutely fabulous, it has made my heels a little softer but I have only used it a couple of times and so maybe it will get softer as time goes along, as I use other foot lotions and creams on my feet on a regular basis, but this one is just perfect too.
It soaks into the skin quite quickly to leave it not tacky or sticky at all, and I could put on my grandsons Pjs on soon afterwards with no problem at all, I really think this is a brilliant lotion and worth the money and I have been using it along side my other lotions as I love it so much, the cream is a lovely soft colour of pink and a nice consistency, and it is also good for removing make up and I have tried it to take off my make up at the end of the day and I found it very nice around my eyes and it was perfectly fine too.
I highly recommend it for anyone to try, for their children or grandchildren and also for themselves, and I am going to buy my daughter some of this in the future to stock her nursery as I think she will love it too, and I think it is very good to buy for anyone you know who is having a baby and to place into a nice little basket with some other baby products as a baby gift, as I just think it is a very good way of buying a gift if on a budget as these kind of products are used constantly and they always come in very handy for the parents etc.
I give this 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
I've been using Tesco My Baby's Lotion for as long as I can remember, particularly as it's an extremely effective make-up remover.
The lotion comes in a pretty pink 500ml plastic container with a flip-top lid. On the upper section of the container there is a drawing of a cute smiling baby surrounded by smiley hearts.
The front of the bottle advises that the lotion "gently cleanses and moisturises, is paediatrician approved and is hypoallergenic".
The lotion is mainly aimed for cleansing and moisturising the delicate skin of babies and the directions on the reverse of the bottle state that in using this product, your baby's skin will be soft and smooth.
I can never understand why baby lotions are always contained in pretty pink containers, which are clearly aimed at baby girls. I'm surprised manufacturers haven't branded a blue version for baby boys.
I initially purchased this lotion many years ago to sooth sunburn and decided to try it for removing eye make-up. I was pleasantly surprised at how effective it was, particularly as I use quite a few products on my eyes, namely eye shadow, two coats of mascara and both liquid and pencil eyeliners.
I use two balls of cotton wool for each eye and only need a very small amount of the lotion, which effectively removes all of my make-up. I would point out though, that I don't wear waterproof mascara so I'm doubtful that this would be effective for its' removal.
The lotion is non-greasy, so I'm not left with oily grease marks around my eye area and as the product is moisturising, it hydrates the delicate eye areas as well as cleansing the surrounding skin.
The lotion is a light pink in colour and has a pleasant subtle fragrance and resembles the scent of most baby products, which can only be described as fresh, clean and "baby-like".
The only fault I can find with this product is the flimsy plastic lid, which is secured to the container with three extremely thin pieces of plastic. Whilst the lotion dispenses easily through a small hole under the lid, I find the lid frequently snaps off leaving the product exposed. However, in my opinion, there are so many positives with this product, that this is simply a minor detail.
I find many of the cheaper baby lotions contain too much liquid and pour directly off the cotton wool ball and end up in a blob on the floor. However, the consistency of this lotion is perfect and whilst not thick, it's easy to use and stays on the cotton wool ball.
I sometimes use the lotion on my face, neck and shoulders, particularly if I've been exposed to the sun, as it is extremely soothing on the skin. Whilst it does not provide the some effect as an after sun product, it absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling wonderfully cool and moisturised.
As with most products, you need to ensure you do not get the lotion directly in your eyes and should immediately rinse with clean water if this occurs. Whilst I've been using the lotion for many years as an eye make-up remover, I've never experienced any discomfort with eye contact. As the product is mainly designed for use on babies, it is extremely gentle.
I use eye make-up on a daily basis and use this product to remove it every evening, with a bottle lasting me up to four months.
Once empty the bottle can be recycled.
Tesco My Baby's Lotion is available in most Tesco stores and costs £1.07 for a 500ml bottle. I have checked Tesco website to see if this product is on special offer and would advise that you can pick up two of these lotions until 31 August 2010 for the reduced price of £2.00. As this product lasts me up to four months, it costs me less than a penny a day to remove my eye make-up!!
Such an extremely effective, yet inexpensive product receives 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
Shopping for me recently has become a little game which I play, I try to see if I can lower my bill each time I go, this week I managed to make a big saving by buying Tesco's baby lotion instead of Johnsons and saved over £1 by doing so!
The bottle is a nice light pink colour and has the title of the product on the front with a cartoon type picture of a smiling baby's face. There is also a few words which claim that this product is suitable for newborns and gently cleans and moisturises, paediatrician approved and hypoallergenic. The back of the bottle has a white label in the middle and here you can find the directions for use, ingredients and the Tesco promise.
The cream is a nice light pick colour and is a nice decent consistency. It is not too runny so it does not run out of your hand or off cotton wool. The top of the bottle does have a flip lid which makes this easier to get the cream out of an d simple to close one handed when the cream is in the other hand. I also find this makes it stay cleaner.
~~USING THE CREAM AND RESULTS~~
Now for me when I was growing up there was always a bottle of Baby lotion on my mom's dressing table as she used it as a makeup remover so when I was old enough to wear make up this is the product I too chose to take it off. I find it mush easier to put a small dollop onto a cotton wool ball and them gentle wipe over my eyes or where ever the make up is and it just wipes off smoothly and easily. I find that I am never left with bits of stubborn mascara and this does also remove waterproof makeup with ease.
As I have got even older and now the mother of 3 boys I always found that this was an excellent cream to pub onto my boys after they had their baths or if they had a patch of dry skin. Saying this I would always buy the Johnsons brand for them. As I am testing this cheaper product I decided to smother them all in it after their last bath and found it to be just as good. It does rub into the skin extremely easily and does not leave it feeling greasy at all.
Another way I have found this cream useful is for the dry and rough skin which I get on my elbows. It really has made it much softer and nicer to look at.
There is a pleasant smell to this cream and it does always remind me of babies. It is a hard one to describe and unless you have ever smelt a new born baby then you will not know what I mean. The smell is not at all over powering and it does last on the skin for quite a few hours after. I found that my boys did not complain about the smell as some might think it was 'too girly' but not my boys and they enjoyed wearing it.
I will list the ingredients to this cream for those who wish to know them:-
Aqua, Paraffinum Liquidum, Glyceryl Sterate SE, Centearyl, Alcohol, Glycerin, Petrolatum, Ceteareth - 20, Dmethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Citric Acid, Methylparaben, Tetasodium ETDA, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben, CI 17200,
There is a warning on the back of the bottle which warns to keep out of the eyes, I have once or twice got this into my eye and believe me it is not nice and makes the eyes stream with water. I do recommend that you keep your eye tightly closed if using this to remove eye makeup! If this does go into your eye then rinse with clean warm water.
~~PRICE AND AVAILABILITY~~
As this is Tesco's own brand then it is only available from Tesco shops. It comes in a 500ml bottle and the price which I paid was £1.06 which I though was a bargain as the Johnson's was just over £2 and was a lot smaller than this bottle.
After using this cream on both myself, my boys and the removal of my makeup then I have to recommend this to all. It gives a wonderful soft finish to the skin and is excellent at removing all types of makeup with ease. Definitely a new bargain buy for my house.
