“ Brand: Tesco / Type: Baby Wash „
Before Jayden was born my parents brought me and my husband some baby essentials ready for his arrival, one of these items was a large bottle of Tesco Baby Head to Toe Gentle Wash, I have used Tesco own brand of shower gels etc myself and have always been pleased with them so I was sure that this would be the same and with such a large bottle I was hoping it was going to be long lasting. Packaging The Tesco Baby Head to Toe Gentle Wash comes in a large plastic transparent but slightly frosted bottle, this has a yellow pump on the top which can be unscrewed and removed if you need to. The label on the front and back of the bottle is clear so that it looks like all of the information is written directly onto the bottle. On the front of the bottle is the name of the product Tesco Baby Head to Toe Gentle Wash, all written in blue. Just beneath this is a statement about the product, this is written in a yellowy orange colour which is a little hard to read, there is further information about the product at the bottom of the bottle and this is written in the same dark blue colour. The only information on the front of the bottle is a pinky coloured circle with a further statement about the head to toe wash. All of the information on the back of the bottle is written in blue, this includes information about the product, helpful tips, directions for use, warnings and the ingredients, this is very clearly set out and easy to read. The Product The Tesco Baby Head to Toe Gentle Wash has a pale yellow colour to it, it is of a reasonable thickness meaning it does not run straight off of the sponge, yet it is not too thick and can easily be pumped out of the bottle. This head to toe wash is said to be specially developed by baby care experts and is suitable for newborn babies. This product has a no tears formula and is soap free but at the same time will cleanse your baby's skin, so I was confident that this would be gentle and not irritate Jayden's skin, I can also agree that it is a no tears formula as a small amount did get in Jayden's eye one day and he didn't even notice. Tesco Baby Head to Toe Wash is also paediatrician approved, dermatologically tested and hypoallergenic all of which gave me confidence that this was going to be gentle on his skin, further information which gave me confidence that the product is gentle is that it is pH balanced and paraben free. I particularly like the fragrance of this wash, it is mild which is ideal for a baby's skin as I didn't want anything that smelt too strong, it has a very light floral smell to it, this is long lasting and I can still smell it on Jayden's skin well into the evening several hours after his bath. It is a product that can be used on his hair and skin and after washing his hair with this it feels lovely and soft and again the fragrance stays for several hours. The product really does leave his skin smell clean and fresh and this lasts for ages. Directions for Use Using the product is very easy you simply pump a small amount of the wash onto your hand or sponge and massage gently into your baby's wet hair and skin until it lathers then rinse thoroughly. I have tried applying it using both my hand and a baby sponge and personally I prefer using a sponge as the product does lather up much easier. Warnings These are standard for this type of product and include * Keep out of reach of children * Avoid contact with eyes, if this occurs rinse immediately, this is a no tears formula but it is not recommended that you get it into eyes. Price and Availability Obviously the Tesco Baby Head to Toe Gentle Wash is only available from Tesco as it is one of their own brand products, the 500ml bottle costs just £1.08, although it is currently on offer for two bottles for £2.00. Personally I think this product is excellent value for money, a large bottle is extremely cheap to buy and also it is very long lasting, you really do not need much of this product at a time a small amount goes a long way so it is not something you need to buy that often despite using it every day. My Opinion I have been using Tesco Baby Head to Toes Gentle Wash on Jayden for a few weeks now and have been very pleased with the results. This product is extremely gentle on his skin and causes no irritation, it has a lovely fragrance which lasts a long while on both his skin and hair. I like the fact that you can use this product on both his skin and hair as it means there is no fiddling about with different products, when I have washed Jayden's hair with this is feels lovely and soft. The soft floral fragrance of the wash leaves a long lasting subtle yet clean and fresh smell. Not only have I been pleased with the performance of this product I was also pleased with the price, whilst I didn't personally buy the bottle we currently have it is very reasonably priced for me to buy in the future. This is definitely a product I will continue to use in the future and also one I would recommend to anyone, it is gentle, does what it is supposed to and is also affordable.
Tesco baby head to toe wash is exactly that! It is a shampoo and shower gel combined into one product. The first time I used this product was when my eldest son was 11 months old. I had previously used 'Johnsons Baby top to toe wash' on him, but on a shop at Tesco's, I found that they were out of stock. I had a look at the other baby washes and decided to try 'Tesco baby head to toe wash'. The bottle resembled the 'Johnson's' wash, but was a fraction of the price, costing just £1.00 for 500ml's, whereas the Johnson baby version cost £2.67 per 500ml. The product description on the front was also impressive, and I was reassured by the 'Paediatrician approved' statement. The bottle states that the wash is Suitable for newborns, as it is hypoallergenic, Paraben free and has a no tears formula. It has also been dermatologically tested and is PH balanced and soap free. The bottle also displays directions for use, along with a 'Helpful tip': Before you bath your baby make sure you have everything you need near you. At the top there is a yellow pump attached, which has been secured. To open this you simply need to apply some pressure to the pump and twist it right, to open (the same as on a liquid hand soap pump). I would recommend that you always check that the seal had not been tampered with before buying. My verdict: I am really pleased that Tesco's ran out of Johnson's Baby top to toe that day, otherwise I may have never been tempted into trying Tesco Baby Head to toe wash, which I still continue to use with both my children now aged 4 and 2. Although it is really a young baby's wash, I have found that it is really gentle on my children's skin, which it leaves clean and incredibly soft, so I have no reason to stop using it. Neither of my children have been fond of having their hair washed, as they don't appreciate the water in their face, however they have never seemed to experience stinging red eyes as a result of this product. Their hair is left shiny and soft, with a pleasant clean smell. The gel itself is relatively clear, and has quite a thick consistency. Each bottle lasts for roughly two months, with both boys having a wash every other day. I simply pump two or three squirts into running water as I am filling the bath (which creates a mass of bubbles) and then pump the gel onto the sponge, as and when, to clean my little men. The pump is very easy to use with one hand which is handy for those bathing newborns, as they only have one have free, whilst supporting the child. The bottle is great value costing £1.00 per 500ml! It is actually three products in one, as it not only cleans and washes hair, but it also works as a great bubble bath formula! It has helped make bath time a more pleasant experience for my children, and they love playing with the bubbles :-) I have been using Tesco baby head to toe wash for nearly 4 years now and I will continue to use it for a few more years, until they become sweaty teenage boys, and need a stronger powerful body-wash!
I bought this wash because I had tried the baby lotion in the same range and thought because I liked the lotion and it suited my grandchildren very well, I thought I would try this wash to see if I liked it too and because it is a good price. The wash is housed in a plastic bottle and I only paid £1 for the 500ml bottle, the bottle has a push down pump dispenser, which is handy to use while using the wash. I just run the bath and add a couple of pumps of the wash and I find that is enough to give a good amount of bubbles in the water. It lathers quite well in a small amount of water for my younger grandchildren. For my older grandchildren the couple of pumps is enough to use on the sponge. It is a good quality liquid so a small amount does go a long way. This wash is a thick liquid, it is quite rich and is very smooth and soft. It does not run from the dispenser and so it is not a messy liquid. I find it is similar use to a hand wash but for the body and hair. This one does save lots of time bathing the children because the wash is not just for the body but for the hair too. I find it washes the children's hair very well and cleans it well. The body is left nice and soft too after it has been dried. This one has a really nice smell, it smells like a new born baby and is a really nice pleasant smell. The liquid has a nice texture and consistency and is a mild one for the more sensitive skin of a young child. It is suitable for my grandchildren and it has left their skin nice and soft with no problems at all. It is easy to rinse from the hair and body. I find that this one is ideal for the tiny baby's as much as for the older ones. Because this is a good quality and only a little is needed, it does last a long time and does save money. I think it is a good price for a product that does 2 tasks at once, both a shampoo and a body wash. I would say it is more suitable for children of a younger age and my older grandchildren have used it but found they have needed to use a few more pumps to give a better lather for their hair because it is more thicker than the smaller children, but it still washes their hair well. I would recommend this wash for anyone trying to save a little money or are looking for a different brand to try for a change. This one is worth the money and is one I will buy again. I rate it 5 stars.
I have used many different body wash products for my children/babies including Johnson and Johnson, Asda's own, Wilkinsons own, Infacare to name but a few and I really do think this is by far the best so far. I was worried it had been discontinued as I had not been able to get the product for a while but this week noticed it was back in stock in revamped packaging. At 80p for 500ml (is currently on offer in Tesco, usually £1.00 at my local store) is is certainly excellent value for money. It comes in a clear plastic bottle so you can easily tell how much is left and has a handy pump dispenser instead of fiddly lids that go missing or require two hands! I add a couple of squirts to the bath for my 1 year old - it gives enough bubbles to keep her entertained. I also use it to wash her all over including her hair - I love smelling my childrens hair when they've just had a bath and this product has a lovely smell that lingers on their hair and body for a good while. I also find it is suitable for all my other two daughters (ages 5 & 2) although as the oldest has very long hair, I usually use a 'proper' shampoo & conditioner on her hair. I don't use bar soap on my children so when they are having a wash in the morning or before bed if they're not having a bath, I add another squirt to the sink and wash them with the soapy water. They never complain that it hurts their eyes, not does it irritate my middle daughters sensitive skin. This is definitely a top baby buy and was even recommended by my midwife, who told me not to use Johnson and Johnson baby bath as it was too drying!
I am always yp for trying new products espcially when they appear good value and easy to use. The Tesco, my baby's head to toe wash is no exeption. When shopping recently, i nearly picked up my Johnsons usual, but noticed this for a mear £1.29 and thought id give it a go. The product comes in an opaque bottle approx 25-30cm tall with the liquid inside being yellow in colour to match the yellow lid and dispenser. On the front of the bottle isnthe tesco logo and a spiel, i quote: "suitable for newborns, no tears formula, gently cleanses hair and body, paediatrician approved, hypoallergenic, paraben free". All of the above are what you would both of these you would like and expect to find on a product you are going to use for your baby. Underneath this writing, is a pretty picture of a giraffe surrounded in bubbles in yellow and orange! On the back of the bottle there is a white stuck on label that gives the directions in which the product is best used, the ingredients of the product, the tesco 'promise' and the warnings, which include " to avoid contact contact with eyes". The bottle is plastic as mentioned prior and is widelt recycled and should be use within 12 months of opening. I should state though, that there is nowhere on the packageing that states that this product is not tested on animals. The dispenser itself is great to use especially when you are juggling with a baby or toddler. You dont have to fiddle with flipping lids and and tuning the bottle upside down to squeese out the prduct when you can simply press the dispenser and get an adaquate amount to wash babies hair. The wash itself, apart from being yellow is pretty odourless and makes a great lather when applied to the hair or body. I would say for a toddler, you would need about 4 'pushes' of the product to wash hair and body, and with the product in a 500ml bottle, this does last some time! My son has never had a reaction to this product, has not suffered with either dry or greasy hair or skin, so a win win for me. I cannot speak for all children though, so i would always advise using a small 'test' amount to make sure your baby has no reactions to the wash. I am really please with this product, especailly for the price, the only niggle as previously stated is the fact that there is not the certainty that it may not have been tested on animals. Have to knock off a star for that im afraid!
My grandson often sleeps over at my home and he likes his shower before he goes to bed, he is really good in my shower because he is so used to having one at home as my daughter decided to shower him from an early age so that he was used to the water over his head etc, he quite liked it from the early age at which he started having a shower and now he breezes through it with no problems at all, which is very good because I only have a shower in my home as I am disabled. This hair and body was I bought from Tesco a while ago and it is only priced at £1 for a 500ml bottle, the bottle is a study plastic with a flip lid, the wash is a lovely soft texture, which is very smooth, it is silk like, it smells gorgeous for the cheap price in my opinion and all that is needed is a small amount on the hands or a sponge and to massage it gently into a the child skin. My grandson loves being massaged and this wash suits his delicate skin perfectly. I cannot shower my grandson on my own and so my hubby helps me to wash him etc, my grandson loves it because he can have both of us pamper him at the same time and he is such a little show off it is unreal lol, he just stands in the shower and allows us to wash his hair and body and he laughs all the time. This wash is brilliant because it means he can be showered far quicker as it washes his hair as well as his body. The wash lathers quite well and there are a lot of bubbles but not so many that he gets bubbles in his eyes etc, the right amount very good with this one, it smells lovely and the fragrance smells like a new born baby. It is delightfully pleasant and it leaves his skin feeling lovely and fresh and extremely soft. I use a body lotion after using this one on his skin and they both work very well together. This is designed for using in the bath but it works just as well for me using it in the shower and it is a really mild product that does not sting or irritate my grandsons eyes at all, I have actually used this wash at my daughters home in her bath for my grandson and I have sat on a chair and watched him splash around in the water when I have bathed him while I have visited him and only a small amount is needed in the bath also to create the bubbles etc. This one is so gentle and mild it is worth the price in my opinion and I highly recommend it for any parent or grandparent to buy as I think it is an amazingly good quality baby wash and it does the 2 tasks at the same time and it washes the hair perfectly to leave it nice and clean and extremely soft and it rinses well off the hair and the body and I will certainly buy it again in the future. I give this one 5 stars. Thank you for reading my review.
Making sure our baby's are looked after and kept nice and clean is every parents duty, however, over the last few years as finances have become tight, it has become the majority of households mission to lower their outgoings and shopping bills. We usually used the premium brand "Johnsons" for keeping our children clean , but felt it was just too expensive and the time was right to look for a cheaper alternative , but most importantly, without compromising on quality. We normally do our weekly shop in our local Tesco and as you have probably read from some of my other reviews , we have become a fan of a lot of Tesco's own brand products. We decided to give their "My Baby's Head to Toe Wash" a go. It is priced at £1.05 for the 500ml bottle compared to Johnsons £3.49 for the 500ml bottle (prices correct in Tesco as of 03/10/2010) which as I'm sure you'll all agree is a massive price difference. This was our main reason for buying as it was huge saving but I'm glad to report that the product itself is of great quality. The bottle itself is lovely and is clear in colour and has a cute cartoon giraffe on the front, as it is clear it is easy to see when you need to buy your next bottle. It has a yellow pump action nozzle which I find really useful when washing our kids as you don't have to be struggling trying to open the bottle when also holding your child in the water, a simple plunge on the nozzle and the soap is dispensed. The soap is clear in colour and has a similar smell to the Tesco own brand baby shampoo which I have reviewed previously. It works up a nice lather and has always kept our kids clean and smelling fresh. It is suitable for newborns and also has the all important "No Tears Formula". In my opinion, this is yet another great product in the Tesco own brand range as does achieve what I mentioned earlier, It is less expensive than the premium brand and it doesn't compromise on the quality. Thanks Tesco!
This Top to Toe wash was given to me in a bundle of baby toiletries at one of my baby showers. I was really pleased to have it, because although it wasn't as luxurious as some of the other baby products I had been given, it meant that at least I'd be able to continue buying it if I liked it, after the initial bottle had run out. At £1.05 500ml it really wouldn't break the bank, and it would be easy to buy from my local Tesco, whereas to head to the Body Shop to pick up some more of their baby wash, would cost me a couple of pounds in petrol! The product is utterly unremarkable. It comes in a bottle (now different to the above picture) with a small giraffe picture towards the bottom. The bottle is unisex, and has a yellow pump lid. It looks like a baby product, but not all-singing and dancingly so. The Top to Toes wash is very easy to use. You simply pump a small amount of the liquid (it's a bit thinner than gel and bubble bath) onto a sponge or your hand and then wash your baby with it. I have found that one squirt onto a sponge is enough to wash Baby Frank all over. This liquid is a pale yellow colour and smells very mildly of soap. It doesn't create much of a lather, but I have found this to be the case with a number of other baby wash products. Baby Frank has never had any problems with this product. She has a bath every other day and her skin has not been dried out by this product. I do sometimes find that it doesn't leave the small amount of hair that she has as shiny as some of the other body washes I have used, but with only a little hair, I don't think this matters. We are all pleased with this product and will continue to use it. Although it's nothing special, I think it's good value for money for a daily wash.
One of the good things about having a baby is that you seem to accumulate lots of bath products, therefore reducing the need of buying any for months if not a couple of years. A few months ago, my last bottle of baby wash was coming to an end, so I had no choice but to go and buy some more. After looking around in Tesco as this just happened to be where I was, I spied their own top to toe baby wash which was sitting on the shelf with the bargain price tag of £1.05 for its huge 500ml bottle. This wasn't an offer, and in fact after checking again today, the price is still the same. I immediately liked the design of the packaging because it had a pump action lid. So many times I have found myself with wet hands and not being able to remove lids of shampoo etc at the same time as concentrating on making sure my daughter was safe in the bath. Having a pump action lid meant the bottle could stay sitting on the side of the bath and we could literally place the sponge underneath and release some liquid all using the same hand. It's also in a see through bottle so we can tell well in advance when the bottle will need replacing without having to guess and probably waste a lot of what is sitting in the bottom of the bottle. I have found this top to toe wash has been useful for plenty of uses since having it sitting on the side of the bath. It is designed to be used for both body and hair, but to be honest I don't find it suits my daughter's hair as well as baby shampoos do, so we do stick to using this for just her body. I have also been known to using as a bubble making machine when I run out of bubble bath, and we get cries of "bubbles Mummy". It foams up really well so is great for bubbles, without using too much. The consistency of the wash is quite thick without being gloopy. I usually find two squirts on the sponge is ample for a whole body wash, and also the same amount creates enough bubbles for a bath. As we don't tend to use too much to create the effect we need, we have noticed that even a few months later, the bottle isn't even half way to being empty yet, which is making it great value for money. There is nothing majorly fancy about the packaging or the smell of the product, but it smells delicate and pleasant, and I can usually get a faint linger of aroma on my daughter's body after she is dry. If you're looking for something that looks fantastic on your bathroom shelf then this product won't be for you, but if you are looking for value for money and a product that works and is kind to your child's skin then I would really recommend you giving this a try.
My daughter is now six months old and all of the lovely toiletry filled hampers we were given when she was born have now been used up. My little girl gets bathed every day as part of her bedtime routine and so we need to use a product that is gentle yet effective. I chose Tesco's own baby wash as it was half the price of Johnsons (what we normally use) and we use Tesco on-line shopping. I was pleasantly surprised about the product. It comes in a pump dispenser, which means you can get some out of the bottle one handed, very handy when you are bathing baby on your own. It is a clear yellow liquid, which is a nice consistency and it foams up well. I use approximately three squirts per bath! and so it lasts quite a while. I also love the smell of this product. Some own brand products have a distinctly similar smell to toilet cleaner, not this, it smells lovely and just how a baby should smell! The packaging is non offensive, however this would not matter to me as the product is so good. I will definitely be buying this again, and trying other Tesco products for my little girl. Highly recommended.
This is strategically placed in Tesco - right next to my usual Johnson's brand of baby wash. Ive seen it lots of times, and whilst the price is appealing - I tend to bypass it and stick to the brands that I know and can trust. But last week I decided to give this a go... and am a little bit disappointed. It might be comparatively cheap - £1.50 compared to the Johnson's £2.40 - but I found it to be very runny to the point where it looks like its been watered down and meaning that I had to use more of it to get decent bubbles or a decent lather. As the whole family uses this product, I get the feeling that it won't last very long. I do like to pump action top - meaning you don't have to be messing with a fiddly lid when you've god a slippery baby in your arms. The smell is quite nice too... it doesn't really have a fragrance that I could determine, it just smells lovely and clean. All in all I don't think that this product will work out worth buying - I think it would be more cost effective to stick to my usual brand that I need less of per use and will last longer.
When my son was born I was given lots of Johnsons baby products and so after I had used them up I continued to buy the same things. Recently however, I noticed this Tesco version on the shelf. It costs £1.05 compared to the Johnsons version which costs £2.49 for exactly the same size bottle! I couldn't believe the Tesco version was less than half the price. Having decided to buy cheaper versions of household items where possible I popped this one in the trolley, crossing my fingers that it wouldn't cause any problems to my sensitive-skinned son. *Appearance* The head to toe wash comes in a tall curved bottle. The packaging is a pale yellow with a brighter yellow pump at the top. On the front it tells you what the product is and has a little picture of a cartoon baby face. The bottle holds 500ml. I particularly like the fact it has a pump action dispenser instead of having to fiddle with a lid. *Using the product* I use this wash for lots of different jobs: as a bubble bath, as a shampoo and as a body wash. To use it as a bubble bath I simply pump two squirts under the running water. This creates a good amount of bubbles for my son and we were both pleased to find that the bubbles last for the duration of the bath. I have found that I only need one squirt to wash my son's hair. I can't imagine you would need more than one squirt even for long haired children as it lathers up really well. The promise of 'No tears formula' proves to be very accurate as my son makes no complaints when I accidently pour the shampoo-filled water all over his face! I am pleased to find the shampoo leaves his hair just as clean as the more expensive brands. When using it as a body wash I just use one squirt onto a sponge. Again it lathers up well so one squirt is all that is required. I am pleased to note that it causes no problems to his sensitive skin. *My opinion* I am ever so pleased with this Head to Toe wash. It smells fantastic, in my opinion it smells nicer than the Johnsons version. It cleans my son just as well as the more expensive versions and most importantly, it doesn't irritate either his eyes or his sensitive skin. A little goes a long way with this product. I bought the 500ml bottle a few months ago and I have well over half a bottle left. My son has a bath nearly every night so I am really impressed with how long one bottle lasts. I am so pleased that I noticed this product on the shelf. I can't believe that I was paying over double for the Johnsons equivalent for nearly a year and a half!
We have been using Tesco My Baby's Head to Toe Wash for a little while now, after I excepted it as a substitute on my tesco online order. The bottles are of a 500ml size costing £1.02 at regular price of 2 bottles for £2 - a saving of four whole pence! The Johnson & Johnsons equivalent is currently priced at £2.32 for a 500ml at Tesco. I discovered that Asda do a version priced at £1.45 or 2 for £2 for a 750ml bottle - so even more product at Asda for the same price (if you take advantage of the multibuy offer). The pale lemon coloured bottle has a yellow pump action dispenser. The label describes the product and its qualities - such as no tears formula and paraben free and displays a cartoon picture of a cute giraffe. Two squirts in the bath, under warm running water creates mounds of bubbles and gives off a lovely light fragrance. The smell is not too dissimilar to J & J products. It is a very clean, fresh aroma. As Head to Toe Wash is suitable for cleasning babies hair and body I have been using it to wash Jake's hair as well as in his bath. I am thrilled with the results, his hair looks healthy and shiny and well cared for and smells wonderful. I much prefer this scent than to that of J & J Shampoo, as I find that has a very medicated smell. One squirt is more than plenty to work a lather and give his hair a good scrub to remove the food remnants from tea time!! The no tears formula is true to its word, jake does not even flinch when it gets near his eyes and when I am scrubbing his face. I am thrilled with this incidental find and would be happy to continue to use it - it is fantastic value for money and a bottle will last a long long time. I am not even a quarter wasy through my first bottle yet and have been using it for just shy of 4 weeks. Bargain. I am however intrigued by the Asda version and might have to give that a squeeze some time very soon.
