Tesco My Baby Bedtime Bath

When I left work to start maternity leave all the girls got together and bought me loads of baby clothes and baby toiletries. Amongst a whole heap of bits was Johnson’s bedtime bath which states using it can help to give your baby a better sleep. After having Jack and using up all the Johnson’s bedtime bath I decided I would buy myself another bottle. On my weekly shopping trip to Tesco I was looking at buying the Johnson’s one when I noticed that Tesco did their own bedtime bath bubbles.

To buy Johnson’s you are looking at paying £1.70p for a smaller bottle than you would get if you paid £1.00p for the Tesco version. For that pound you are getting 400ml of bubble bath with lavender oil included which is the aroma that is said to make your baby sleep better along as you use it as part of a night time routine.

The bubble bath also has a no tears formula and is hypoallergenic. It has been paediatrician approved and it does help to relax and calm, again this is the added lavender oil that will do this. The bubble bath itself is a thick see through purple product that needs to be added to running water to bubble up. The water needs to be warm to produce the best amount of bubbles and you also need to give it a good swish round to make the bubbles flow.

The back of the bottle also states that it is perfect for adults who are in need of some relaxation too! Therefore it’ll be perfect when sharing a bath with your baby when they are old enough to sit up themselves. For now I add this bubble bath to Jack’s baby bath and a small amount seems to make a lot of really nice smelling bubbles. I do give the water a really good swish to make the most out of a small amount. Compared to the Johnson’s bedtime bath I would say this makes exactly the same amount of bubbles and smells just as good.

The bubble bath also has a touch of almond oil in which is also said to promote relaxation and make for softer smoother skin. However almond oil is not really ideal for some babies and I suspect some midwives would not recommend it due to the over protectiveness for young babies and the possibility that they could have a nut allergy. Jack seems fine with this product however and I think since introducing a bedtime routine along with this product in his bath has all helped him sleep pretty much through the night.

I usually get the bath ready at around 6.15pm and we have a little splash around till half 6 twenty to seven ten once he’s all dried and lotioned up we head into bed with a large warm bottle of milk and twinkle twinkle little star playing on his musical toy. He is pretty much asleep for half seven then will only wake at around 3 or 4 for a feed and then go back to sleep till half 6 or 7 which is when we get up! I suspect the whole routine is what makes him sleep well but on the two occasions when I have missed out the bath because he was just wanting a feed he did not have such a good night sleep! Strange so maybe this product does have some influence on the sort of sleep he will have.

Another added bonus of this product is that it is not tested on animals and the bottle can be recycled if you can find the right facilities (which I certainly cannot). The main bonus of using this product is of course the fact that it does appear to work. The product makes loads of great bubbles, it smells wonderful and Jack’s skin feels nice and smooth after having his bath.

All in all this product seems just as good as the Johnson’s one for a much better price. I would recommend it to every parent, as it really seems to have worked for Jack and me.

Summary: a great bedtime tool!!!
