Advantages: Cheap and work very well

Disadvantages: A little thiiner than leading brand nappies (but still ok!)

What would a single girl with no babies possibly know about nappies? Well I am a qualified Nursery Nurse and occasionally I look after my friends 2 kids. One is 18 months old and the other is 6 months and I will get landed for a day of babysitting from time to time. Ok I'm not moaning I love it of course lol!

I don't like nappies though. I don't like dirty bums and yes I do know the difference between Pampers and economy brands. When I first looked after her first child it was Pampers all the way with the matching baby wipes, you name it she had it! Now though in tighter economical times I'm noticing 'cheaper' things in her house and when it came to nappy change time and I was a little disturbed to see Tesco 'Value' nappies in the corner of her bathroom when it came to me changing a bum! I'm not the best around changing times and am prone to fluster with two crying little uns with soggy pooey bums determined to cake me in the contents of their nappies as it is and now I feel victimised by cheapo paper nappies!

The Packaging....

Well the one's I am reviewing are the Tesco 'Value' Unisex Nappies which are a pack of 20 'Maxi' 7.18kg (15-40lb). They come in a very basic white plastic wrapper in a square shape in two lines of ten nappies. On the front in red and blue writing I'm told all the information I've just given to you. It really is that simple to look at. On the back of the pack I'm told a bit about the product, directions for use are given, warnings and safety advice is given as is advice for disposal of the nappy when it's been used. Contact details for Tesco are given along with a promise of quality, finally I am told to bag it and bin it opposed to flush it, I'm told they are recyclable (but I dread to think how lol!) and there is a bar-code on there. Very economy looking but lets face it these nappies cost £1.47 for 20 of them after-all so what else would we expect!

A Bit About The Product According To The Back Of The Packet....

Tesco Value Unisex Nappies have adhesive fastening tapes for a comfortable fit, leg elastication and leg cuffs which provide protection at both sides of the nappy, and a pad to lock away wetness and help keep baby dry.

Directions For Use....

Keep tapes and tape contact surfaces free of powder, cream or lotion. Tape equally on both sides.

The Nappies Themselves....

Well they look like disposable nappies of course! White, quite big as this is the larger size (for her older child) they are thinner than alot of leading brands but the usual picture of funny, colourful looking characters in on a band towards the top of the nappy. At the back of the nappy two pieces of tape in equal measures and that are sticky enough are there too. As I have said these are really not all that thick but the waterproof outer layer is strong and the leg elastic is tight enough over the cotton wool internal pad which is very big, to the front and back of the nappy.

I of course clean the child up and put this on him and it's really simple. No hidden difficulties the tapes stick in place and like with most nappies if the size is ok on the child your half way there and these fit her little fella very well particularly around his tummy and legs and he certainly doesn't look uncomfortable or anything. They mould to him well and once his baby grow thing is on he's all done and dusted and the nappy stays in place till I remove it.

I haven't seen or felt any leakage and he hasn't had worse nappy rash because of these. Yes you do feel a bit more vigilant with a child in cheaper nappies and I have no doubt I have to change them more than with other leading brands my mate uses but I have to say these are great for emergencies and for me I'd use these in the day times when I can keep an eye on them but over-all they're great and I'm impressed!

Summary: Great emergency cover!
