Advantages: Value for Money, Good Performance over many hours, Often get good deals with multi purchases
Disadvantages: None!!
When preparing for the arrival of my 2nd son (some eight years after my first - so times/products had changed a good deal since he was born) I decided that only the best would do for my newborn and therefore invested in one of the main 'posh' brands of newborn nappies thinking that they would be the best that money could buy.
How wrong I was!! I found that mysterious leaks kept happening either out of the sides around the leg cuffs or up the back - leading to many an exasperated outfit & nappy change, sometimes within minutes of the last one!!
This is not good when you have a tiny newborn who doesn't particularly want to be man-handled into and out of outfits at all, never mind 3 or 4 times a day!!!
What was most disappointing was that one of these leaks was all over my son's 'coming home from hospital' outfit which had carefully been chosen, washed, ironed & packed for the big occasion - and actually ended up coming home as a damp bundle in a nappy sack rather than on my son!! He ended up coming home wearing a plain white sleepsuit which obviously didn't look as cute on the 'coming home' photos!! Mums - you know what I mean :(
Well I worked my way through another main brand and two other supermarkets own brand nappies before discovering Tesco's Newborn nappies which were me absolute saviour!!
They not only kept everything in (as one would expect of a nappy of course) but they did so for many hours at a time and I have been so impressed with them that not only do I now recommend them to all mums-to-be I know, I actually changed from a well know branded nappy to tesco's nappies for my 2 year old and feel that they really do give me much better value for money.
Not only are they fantastic value anyway - but Tesco's quite often have deals where you can get 3 packs for £10 (which can be mixed and matched between sizes/styles) which is a godsend when you have 2 children in nappies, which can be a very expensive business!!!
If you are a mum-to-be looking to get advice as to what will be best for your new little bundle then I would highly recommend you giving these ones a try AND even if you already have a child in nappies and are happy with the brand you have chosen - I think Tesco's nappies would be worth considering, especially if you are paying for nappies made by one of the leading brands.
In conclusion therefore I would say that......
In my experience Tesco own brand nappies certainly perform as well, if not better (my baby has never had nappy rash in Tesco nappies, and my toddler used to have occasional nappy rash with his old brand but no longer does with these!!) than the leading brand nappies and are much better value for money overall.
Summary: The best brand I have found for avoiding unwanted leaks - even when worn for many hours during night
