Advantages: Tesco's are cheaper and just as good quality as Pampers

ORIGINAL OPINION:
Being a cheapskate I tend to buy "shop's own brand" nappies as they're usually less expensive than the big brands. I never thought they would actually be better too, but it seems they are!

Last week I bought Pampers Baby-Dry because there was a special offer on, so I forsook my usual Tesco's Ultra-Dry and went home feeling like a better mother for having bought such a posh nappy.

Perhaps I was expecting them to be lined with gold or something, I don't know, but for the extra cost I couldn't see any advantages over my usual Tesco's ones.

The Tesco's nappies are just as absorbent and even, I find, a better fit. The re-fastenable tabs also work a whole lot better than the Pampers ones, making them more secure and easier to wrap up when finished with.

Although I've got no complaints about Pampers per se, I personally prefer Tesco's own brand. It just goes to show that you don't have to spend out for the big brands when you can get just as much quality for less cash.

UPDATE:
OK, I've been using the Pampers for a week now and am not impressed! They are less absorbent than Tesco's, leak more, don't last the whole night, and don't wrap up as easily when finished with. They also don't control the smell so effectively. You could say that's a plus point as you know when the nappy needs changing, but I say if you're checking your baby's bum regularly anyway, you don't need to be able to smell it a mile away!

I'm sticking with Tescos!
