Advantages: nice smell, antibacterial
Disadvantages: paper feel, expensive, too wet/then dry out
I am a big fan of Tesco and particularly BOGOF (buy one get one free in case you are not as obsessed with the idea of something for nothing as i am!) offers, of which they always have loads. This is the reason that i bought some of the toddler antibacterial wipes recently - two packs for under two pounds seemed a pretty good deal, especially since my son is just reaching the 'grubbing about in the bin, investigating the cat, picking up worms' stage. They are available in two types, coconut fragranced and ordinary unperfumed. The coconut ones smell really delicious... Smelling lovely AND getting rid of dirt and germs - what a great product!! They are also flushable, so great for potty training! BUT there are some drawbacks... First the quality of the wipes themselves leave a lot to be desired for both the purpose and the actual price (about £1.80 for a pack of 50). They are papery rather than cloth feel presumably so that they can be flushed, but this makes them rather difficult to use on small fiddly hands that don't want to be cleaned. They are also rather too wet - they end up foaming up on the skin and feel a bit unpleasant. Only 50 of these in a pack then seems a bit expensive - especially if your toddler is going to go through a lot of them. If they could make cloth antibacterial wipes then i feel that WOULD be a good product; even if you couldn't flush them they would be better for ordinary hand wiping. The final moan is about the packaging itself. Probably for reasons of economy, the seal on the pack is just a sticker, rather than the plastic click down seal Tesco have introduced for their baby wipes range. Once opened a couple of times this is totally unsticky and doesn't seal properly - the moisture from the pack leaks out into what ever bag you have them stored in and when you come to use the wipes after a period of a week or so they are bone dry. As a BOGOF offer i feel they were worth the
inconvenience, but if i had paid the full price i would have felt ripped off! Antibacterial wipes are a toddler essential, but this product needs more thought...

- 11/12/01 I use these wipes all the time, and really like them. I agree with you about them being a bit too wet though. As for the packet, don't they still do the plastic box? I brought a box the first time, and now just put in refill when I need to. That way it doesn't mater if the top of the packet doesn't close.

- 09/12/01 No matter how many baby wipes I tried, I always ended back up with the Johnsons ones in the pink box. Super they were. |
