Advantages: Cheap, good quality, nice smell

Disadvantages: Wipes can get soggier towards the end, not easy to pull out one handed

Picture the scene…My 10 month old son, sat in his high-chair, food is scattered everywhere (typical bloke) his face and hands are a rather nice shade of orange from eating Spaghetti Bolognese and so am I, what do you do???

Well, rather than calling in an industrial cleaner, I always have a packet of Baby Wipes to hand…these are a blessing in disguise.

As many readers of my reviews will know, I'm an avid bargain hunter, especially when it comes to the food/household shopping as I'm generally on a limited budget and as much as I do not like getting the cheap stuff when it comes to my son, some things just can't be helped and Baby Wipes are the first in line when it comes to bargain spotting.

I have used various different brands of baby wipes anything from the expensive to the really cheap, some were freebies others weren't but despite this Tesco have come up trumps time after time.

Tesco state that their wipes are fragrance free ultra soft cloth wipes that have been formulated to gently cleanse and moisturise baby's delicate skin during nappy changing. They also advise that they are also ideal for use at feeding and play times and that each wipe pops up from the pack so that it can be removed with just one hand, one wipe at a time, leaving your other hand free for your baby and that these wipes help against the causes of nappy rash.

~~The Packaging~~

The packet is plastic with purple on it and white off to one corner with a flip top lid in the centre that's easily closable to avoid the wipes inside drying out.

The lid tells me that these are Tesco Fragrance Free Ultra Soft Cloth Wipes, the rest of the packet has a baby to one side of the lid and information advising that these wipes are as soft and gentle as the leading brand, consultant and dermatologist approved and that they have added moisturising baby lotion in them and the packet contains 80 wipes.

Towards the back of the packet, Tesco have added various pieces of information, all of which I will get to further down.

~~The Highlights and The Lowlights~~

I use these regularly as with a baby, nappy changes and feeding times are a natural occurance, as I'm sure most parents will agree.

The Highlights of this product are that they do clean baby's little areas effectively, they smell of baby lotion with a hint of alcohol and they are soft.

The Lowlights of this product are that they do not come out of the packet one at a time the further down the pack you get and the wipes do tend to be soggier towards the end of the packet.

~~Why Do I Buy Them??~~

Well, apart from the price aspect, I don't think these are such a bad product. They are much better than their Value baby wipes and are just as effective at cleaning up my son's nappy mishaps as the regular brands are.

~~Information~~

The information that I mentioned earlier is as follows:

***Directions for use***

I know that you know how these work, but Tesco like to be sure, so they advise that the pack has a lid especially designed to help keep the wipes moist and have a bullet point instruction system so you know what you're doing, which goes like so:

• Open the lid to break security seal
• Remove and dispose of inner label
• Pull the first wipe through the opening (from experience this can be fiddly)
• After use close the lid

***Warning***

Tesco advise that the wipes are kept out of the reach of children.

You must avoid contact with the eyes and if this does occur then rinse well with running water.

***Ingredients***

Because most parents will be interested I will tell you what is contained in the wipes so as to avoid any allergic reaction.

Aqua, Cetearyl Isononanote, Ceteareth-20, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Ceteareth-12, Cetyl Palmitate, Disodioum Cocoamphiacetate, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Idoopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Sodium Chloride.

***Environmental Information***

Tesco state that none of their products or ingredients are tested on animals by or for them.

***Additional Information***

They ask that you bag the wipes once used and bin them instead of flushing them down the toilet

If you wish to contact Tesco, you can do so by writing to them at Tesco Stores Limited, Cheshunt, EN8 9SL, U.K or online at Tesco.co.uk.

There's a little advertisement on the packet that states that you can save up to £100 if you join the Tesco Baby and Toddler Club by calling free on 0800 59 16 88 and quoting reference OL.

~~The Price~~

These are Tesco's own brand baby wipes and retail at £1.24 per pack although they are normally on offer once a month at two packs for £2.00, which is when I normally buy a job lot.

This is cheaper than the branded ones which retail as much as £2.29 for 70 wipes of Pampers or even £2.69 for Johnson's baby wipes of which you only get 64 in a pack.

~~Availability~~

This is Tesco's own brand of baby wipes and therefore will only be available for purchase at their stores or online although I'm sure other supermarkets will do their own brand that you could buy.

~~My Opinion~~

Well apart from what I've mentioned already in my review, the only thing that I can add is that I do like Tesco's baby wipes and that my son has not had any allergic reaction to them and like all babies he does get nappy rash but I wouldn't say it has got any worse or better with using these.
