Advantages: Have many uses

Disadvantages: None

Although I do not have young children I still buy Wipes and I find that the ones from Tesco's Value range are just as good as the more expensive brands and cost a fraction of the price. I try to buy when there is an offer of Buy one get one free, that way I always keep a stock as they are so versatile and useful.

So if I don't have young kids why do I need wipes? Well I find them useful for all kinds of things and not only have a couple of tubs of them in the house, I also have a tub in the car and another in the office.

The Tesco tubs have 100 wipes in them and these are easily pulled through the slot in the lid at the top of the tub. They seem to last for ages too.

They are perfumed but not unpleasantly, in fact the smell reminds me of Johnson baby products, but perhaps a little stronger.

USES

In the car wipes are ideal for cleaning your hands after filling up with petrol or checking the tyres or oil or if you have a breakdown and your hands get dirty.

They can also be used to mop up spills or to clean marks from the car windows or mirrors.

They are useful to freshen up after a long journey or after eating snacks in the car.

The wipes are handy around the home for wiping up spills, for removing marks on upholstery etc and for anyone with hobbies they are a godsend! They can be used to clean rubber stamps, remove stains from hands after using paints or pastel pencils.

They can be used for removing make up and for a patient in hospital they are useful to help freshen up when it is not possible to take a shower or bath.

On a hot day using a wipe on your hands and face will cool you down.

In addition to the tubs of wipes which I keep around the house and in the car, I also have a small packet which I keep in my handbag. I use these when using public toilets to not only wipe my hands, but also to wipe the toilet seat and flush handle too.

Last week I visited a friend in hospital and before entering the ward I wiped my hands with a wipe and did the same again when I left. I have now been informed that the hospital actually has a dispenser of anti bacterial handwash for people to use for this purpose, but I was not aware of this on my last visit, so I was glad of my wipes.

Of course wipes are essential if you have children. They can be used at nappy changing and to wipe mouths and fingers when children have got more food on them than in them and they are also useful for removing marks from prams and puschairs.

When going on a long journey or long haul flight wipes are essential to keep you fresh if it is not possible to have a wash. Use them to freshen up all over, they are quick and easy to use and easily disposed of.

OTHER INFORMATION

On the label there is a warning to keep the wipes away from children and to avoid contact with eyes. There is a long list of ingredients which include water, polysorbate, propylen glycol, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylyparabem, pefrume, sodium benzoate and citric acid. These do not mean much to me but I would imagine there is an antiseptic amongst them.

I would recommend Tesco Value Wipes to anyone, they are in a white tub that is not like the more colourful ones for baby wipes, and are simply called "Wipes" so anyone can keep a tub handy and not be embarrassed by using baby wipes when they don't have kids. The price is good too, making them an economical buy.

Summary: Tesco Value wipes are economical

These wipes give my daughter a rash around her mouth, so maybe not the gentlest for tiny ones, nice review and a great cheapy product for us oldies! xx

I liked the point you made about the hospital. For 6 minths in 2003 my mum was dying slowly from complications after a stroke. I started buying the expensive wipes (the hospital didn't privide any) but when I found the Tesco ones I insisted they use them until the end.

I'd never bought wipes until my little one arrived. Now I use them to remove my make up...if they're gentle enough for baby's bum, they must be OK for my face!
You're right, they're great to freshen up during hot weather...especially if you keep the pack in the fridge!
