Tesco Value Baby Wipes........
On a recent trip to really discover if you can get cheaper products that are just as good as the more expensive brands I thought I would give these Tesco Value Baby Wipes a try. They really are only marginally cheaper than others that are available but a fair bit cheaper than the more well known brands such as Pampers and Huggies. At 79 pence for apparently 80 wipes, I was saving around 20 pence per packet by getting these than the brand I usually buy. (I have found that Lidil do a foreign brand for 99 pence and these are super thick and super strong).
The packaging they come in is of course very basic and is the usual Tesco Value white with blue stripes. The packet itself seemed pretty thin in comparison to the wipes I have regularly and this was somewhat of a concern before I had even opened them. I chose the slightly scented ones and on opening and using for the first time I can honestly say that I hardly noticed a scent at all.
The wipes inside the packaging were exceptionally thin and very, very small. They much have been over half the size of my usual ones and although they say there is 80 (like the ones I get from Lidil) because of the fact they were so small in size I would say you are getting less than 40.
The wipes you could practically see through and when in use I found them positively rubbish. I needed so many from the packet to clean Jack bottom especially when he ha been for a number two that it just seemed a waste of time to be using them. Nothing seemed to stick to the wipes and I found myself just moving the poo around his bum rather than taking it off. (Sorry little bit graphic!)
In the end I resorted to using the packet up as quickly as possible (which wasn't hard) and reverting back to the Lidil wipes. I can honestly say these wipes are a waste of time and not worth any money being spent on them at all. I will give them a score of 0/10 and hope that buy writing this it will help a few people who like myself until now have always thought about giving these wipes a try. Do not bother!
Summary: Stay well away from these

- 02/09/08 Thanks for this! I wish we had an Aldi or Lidl near to us so that I could try some of their stuff! |

- 02/09/08 I sometimes use these and have found them to be okay, but they are quite small. Come in handy for other things though like wiping sticky fingers and faces... |
