Advantages: Price, Durability
Disadvantages: Grab them when you can!
Having purchased the odd Tesco Value product in the past, I had always dismissed Tesco Value products for use on my new baby (now nearly new - 4 months old!). The cheap and cheerful products are okay for me to use but understandably I didn't want to take a risk with such delicate skin.
A couple of months ago, my 7 year old son had a heavy nosebleed in Tesco. I took him into the baby changing facility to clean up his hands and face. Fortunately Tesco provide baby wipes - Tesco Value Fragrance Free Baby Wipes. I was quite surprised at the quality, certainly enough moisture to clean a very dirty face efficiently.
This was the turning point, I returned to the baby wipe aisle and grabbed the few remaining packets from the shelf. The current packaging is different from that pictured above. The packet is primarily white, with the Tesco Value logo in the left hand corner and a cheerful looking toddler pictured on the right hand side. At 18 pence per packet, and containing 80 wipes they are an absolute bargain!
The packet can be resealed once opened but I have found this doesn't last too long. On first opening, I have also ripped the whole packet open on occasion, they are a little flimsy! For use outside the home, I have transferred them into other baby wipe packets with the plastic fronts (click to close type). I have enlarging the hole underneath eases the transfer!
The wipes themselves are said to be fragrance free, I would say that on opening there is a fresh, clean smell but nothing more. The wipes are slightly smaller than branded wipes but are extremely moist and seem to retain this moisture when left open.
The packaging states that the wipes are ideal for use on baby and all the family - containing mild cleaning agents. The ingredients are far too lengthy to list, I would advise checking the packet/Tesco website for further details.
I did not intend them for use on my baby but having undertaken a trial run with no adverse effects I now buy nothing else - that is when I can get my hands on them. More often than not the Value shelf is empty. I buy in bulk, whatever is on the shelf.
Unfortunately they are not available to purchase online via Tesco.com, most inconvenient!
I use them for anything and everything - cleaning faces, hands, bottoms, wiping marks from tables, fabrics, the list could go on and on. They are extremely versatile.
Summary: 18p well spent
