      A good product that works

For Christmas Jayden received a basket full of various different toiletries, one of these items was The Body Shop Burti Baby Body Butter.  To be honest I didn't realise that you could even get body butter for babies so I was keen to try it.  As the Burti Baby Body Butter is made by the Body Shop I was sure it would be of an excellent quality, I have tried The Body Shop Body Butters myself in the past and have always been pleased with them so sure I would feel the same about this product for Jayden.

      Packaging
The Body Shop Burti Baby Body Butter comes in a small round white plastic pot with a round yellow label on the lid.  The label has The Body Shop logo towards the top with the name of the product and a small amount of information about it written just underneath, this is written in a dark green and pink writing, all of this information is then repeated underneath in a second language.

At the top of the label is a little picture of a tree and some birds.  The base of the pot has a white peelable label on it which contains all of the product information both on the outside and inside of the label, this includes facts about the product, how it is to be used and the ingredients.  The lid of the product simply screws on and off of the top of the pot.

      The Body Butter
This particular body butter is very similar to regular adult body butter.  It is of a thick consistency and is yellow in colour, the consistency of the body butter is not quite as thick and solid as an adult body butter and is a little softer to scoop out of the pot.

The fragrance  of the Burti Baby Body Butter is very light and delicate and to be honest I'm not really sure what it reminds me off, its not exactly what I would call floral, but there is a hint of it along with a very slight sweet smell.

This body butter is enriched with oil from the Amazonian Burti Tree (hence its name) It is specially designed to moisturise your baby's delicate skin and paediatrician approved, it has no added preservatives and is suitable for sensitive skin making it perfect for young baby's and unlikely to cause irritation to their skin.

The Body Shop Burti Body Butter has also not been tested on animals and also supports community trade when it comes to sourcing its ingredients.

      Directions for Use
The directions for use on the back of the pot state that you simply massage the Burti Body Butter into your baby's skin after a bath.  There is nothing to say how much you need, this depends on your baby's skin and also the area you are applying it to.

      Price and Availability
Obviously the Burti Body Butter is only available from The Body Shop or stores that sell The Body Shop products.  The 50ml pot cost £5.00, this is within keeping for this type of product, personally I think this is a fair price for this product as it is very long lasting and economical, you only need a small amount of the body butter as it really does spread a long way.

      My Opinion
When I first got The Body Shop Burti Baby Body Butter I didn't use it for a little while as Jayden didn't have dry skin at all.  However a few months ago he started to crawl and I have noticed that since then the skin on his knees will often feel a bit dry despite him crawling whilst wearing trousers, I can only assume that its the constant rubbing of his knees on the inside of his trousers that causes it, anyway to prevent it from becoming too dry and sore I decided to apply some of the body butter to his knees and I have to admit it really has worked.

After just one application the skin on his knees is smooth and soft, regular use prevents the skin from becoming dry again.  I have also used the Burti Baby Body Butter on dry patch of skin that Jayden got on his tummy the other day, and again after just one small amount of the body butter being used the skin was back to being smooth and soft.

The body butter is very reasonably priced as we have found it to be long lasting, you only need a small amount at a time, a little bit really does go a long way.  In my opinion this body butter really is worth the money, it leaves your baby's skin feeling lovely and soft with a delicate fragrance, it is also gentle and is unlikely to cause any nasty reaction.  This is definitely a product i would buy again in the future and one which I would recommend.
