I was given Infant Stacking Cups as a gift for my son. They are recommended for 8 months and up but my son was enjoying these at six months and still is at 18 months old. At six months he would pick them up which helped with grasping. He also would look at them for at least 30 minutes turning them over and over. He noticed the patterns on the bottom of the cups and would pick at them and rub them with his fingers. About two weeks after that he was having fun with the cups when mommy would place things inside the cups for him. He would sit down immediately and forget he was fussy. He wanted to figure out how to get what I had put in the cups back out of the cups. He figured out the simple way by accident. Turn the cup upside down. At nearly one year he could put his own things in the cups and pull them out. He also has a whole lot of fun throwing the toys out of his playpen so at any given moment I can walk back into the livingroom and nearly kill myself on a stacking cup. LOL. My biggest worry in him throwing them all over the floor is that I may break one. He loves this toy so much and it is one of the most played with. Not to mention a lifesaver for me when he is fussy because he is tired and does not want to sleep. I give him some cups with the other toys etc. inside and he will play with them until he finally falls fast asleep. The pack comes with ten cups of assorted colors: Red, Yellow, and Blue. The cups are all different sizes and can be nested in one another or stacked. On the bottom of each cup is a different pattern. I see many uses for these as he grows. We could play in the sand and make little sand paintings by pressing the bottoms of the cups in the sand. Or if we built a sand castle it would the pattern on the top because the shape/pattern is sunk in inside the cups. We could also use these with fingerpaints or even cookies to put the shape on the bottom of the cup into the cookies b
efore baking. Some of the cups have just a pattern but some have shapes like a star and a car. There are also sprinkler holes for water fun if I should bring them in the bath with him. They are also wonderfully portable. Nine of the cups fit into the largest cup(the biggest red one) and then these twist shut. Great for packing into the diaper bag when going on a trip we know will take a while. I love these so much and can think of so many things to do with my son using these cups I have even considered buying more sets if I can find them. I mean I would not want to use the same set of cups we used for fingerpaints to do the cookie dough imprint idea. LOL.

- 15/05/01 James is not two and a half, and still loves his stacking cups! ALthough it is rare he stacks them, he uses them in a variety of ways - from drinking out of, to hiding things in!! We have never lost any of them either - amaxing in a chaotic household! |
