Advantages: versatile, lots of fun, colourful

Disadvantages: too many of them makes a mess

Well, this Christmas was my daughters first. I thought we would end up with lots of toys, but I didnt think that everyone would get the same toy!!

When I opened the first box of stacking cups, I thought "Great, they look fun, not". Despite the fact that I thought Carenza wouldn't be interested, she actually really loved them!

We opened them up at Grandma's house and soon enough they were spinning all over the laminate floor, and she was crawling after them with a giggle like you have never heard before!

These cups were the Early Learning Centre version. There were 12 cups of all shades, and as you are probably aware, sizes too! They are a bit like a russian dolly, there is one big cup, then a slightly smaller one inside, and then a smaller one inside and so on and so on. Some of these ones had different shaped holes in the bottom. So can you guess what we did?

Thats right, it was straight off to the bath!

Carenza has gone off baths, but with the introduction of the stacking cups she really loves it again! The Early Learning Centre cups, as I said, have holes in the bottom. So we filled them up with water and watched the different shapes come out of them! Carenza really loved this she thought it was hillarious!

Also in the bath, the cups are really good for washing hair!

So, Christmas day came, and in her stocking, Carenza had yet more stacking cups! These ones were Asdas own.

Still made from multi coloured plastic, these stacking cups were almost the same as the Early Learning Centres, except there were no holes, and on the bottom there are pictures of different modes of transport, eg aeroplanes, cars, trucks, trains.....

Then, we got to another pressie, and yet again it was stacking cups! These ones were made by Avent. In my opinion, these are the best of the bunch. They are smaller, more robust and more attractive colours, and more importantly, there are less of t
hem! Less means less mess (ha ha ha).

So some games Carenza likes with her cups:

1. Mum came to visit the other day. Carenza was playing with her cups on the sofa. Carenza threw one off the sofa and mum said "Oh dear". SO she did it again. This she thought was hillarious, and she can now even say oh dear! Thanks mum, she throws everything around now and says "oh dear". Maybe not such a great game for tidiness, but it is great fun for the little lovelies!

2. Carenza like to get to cups, one in each hand, and clap them. She then likes you to get one and the clap that. For some reason, that is great fun, but thats what we are looking for!

3. I had one in my mouth, and I made a growlig noise in it and went right up to her face. This is her favourite game with the cups. She now even picks them up and makes noises into them to hear the funny sounds.

4. Carenza likes it if I make the cup spin around the room so she can crawl around after it. She never catches it, but it is real fun to watch her try!

5.I stack the cups, and Carenza bashes them down. This is noisy, so don't do it when you have a head ache!

So, all these games Carenza loves to play, but she doesn't do the whole stacking thing. Maybe she just isn't going to be a builder when she grows up!

If I would recommend any toy, this simple toy has to be the best! Carenza could spend all day playing with her cups, and at the end of the day, they are just cups!

A lot of fun for you and your baby also means quality time! Theres nothing like the sound of a baby laughing, so go get some stacking cups and see how many games you can make out of them, I can promise there will be many!

You're absolutely right, there's nothing quite like a baby's laughter!

I' m glad you're enjoying Carenza so much, - with or without the toys

:)
