Advantages: Birth-to-potty, no fiddly folding, easy to wash and dry

I bought several Tots Bots size 2 non-aplix nappies when I had my second baby, to supplement the nappies I already had.

I asked everyone I could for advice on which nappy to buy, and kept coming back to Tots Bots, which seemed to be a favourite of an awful lot of people.

I was a little dubious at first - I was really looking for a birth-to-potty option, and Tots Bots do come in two sizes, but I was assured by more than one person that the larger size could be folded down to make it suitable for a newborn, especially since I was already used to cloth nappies.

I bought one to try out, and immediately fell in love with it. It was very soft, and was a perfect fit on my toddler, who tends to be tall and slim rather than chubby.

I bought another half dozen, choosing the non-aplix (velcro-like fastening) version, which can be fastened with nappi nippas or pins. These are easier to fold down for the smaller baby.

I have now used them on both my toddler and my newborn, and I wish I'd known about them when I first bought nappies. In addition to being easy to use, with no folding required, they wash and dry well, they fit nicely, and I have had less leaks from my newborn than I ever did when I was using disposables, in spite of him producing some spectacularly explosive offerings!

In all, I would recommend Tots Bots, although for people who haven't used cloth nappies before, or who have particularly small babies, it is probably worth getting both sizes.
