What is it? The tummy tub is basically a see through plastic bucket that you can bathe your baby in. It is designed to be similar to the womb environment that baby is used to and therefore be calming and comforting, at the same time you can have both hands free. The tummy tub was designed in the Netherlands by childcarers to mimic the mother’s womb environment theoretically making the transition to the ‘outside world’ easier for babies. It is endorsed by doctors, midwives, health visitors and midwives and it’s currently used by more than 150 maternity hospitals in the UK. Cost/value for money: The tummy tub cost us £19.99. Personally I don't ... Read the complete review

It is one of the biggest fears of every new parent how to handle baby baths. Most of the people I talked to were apprehensive of getting so precious and tiny creature into the bath for the first time. Company behind Tummy Tub took that into account and 'invented' natural tub for bathing babies. With the first child we opted for usual equipment and occasionally had problems getting baby into the water (depending on the mood). For the second baby my wife got excited about Tummy Tub and we got it as a present from her brother. We used it quite a few times and I will try to compare it with normal plastic bath for babies by commenting claims from the ... Read the complete review

My Mother was very keen for us to have a Tummy Tub for our first baby because 'a lady had recommended it to her'. This is clearly all she needed to know about the product to give it her full and enthusiastic endorsement! I looked the thing up and, studied with the over-anxious eyes of the inexperienced mother-to-be it looked like the answer to all potential baby-bathing problems! Some of the claims on the site are seriously tempting - helps colicky babies, keeps baby warm up to the neck and therefore is more soothing, supports baby's body better and so requires less struggling with slippery baby etc... So we got one. And I have to say, we ... Read the complete review

Flicking through the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) catalogue whilst pregnant, I stumbled across many weird and wonderful baby related products (not least of all the 'milking machine' with two suction pumps and the 'birthing dress' ('every woman deserves to feel glamorous on her special day'?!?!?)). In my mind, this £19.99 Tummy Tub fell into the same 'overpriced junk you'll never use' category. I chuckled to myself and turned the page. That was not the last I saw of this rather unusual bucket as we were given one a few months later by my cousin. Never one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I thanked her profusely and took the tub home. I thought it may be ... Read the complete review

I bought the Tummy Tub when expecting my boys as it seemed like a novel type of baby bath, a bit different to the others available. It is essentially a clear plastic bucket that the baby sits in. The idea is that the baby can sit in a foetal position in a womb-like environment, with warm water up to their armpits as opposed to lying in a few centimetres of water in a standard baby bath. When it came to actually using the bath, at first it took some getting used to- my boys were quite small when born and it seemed a bit big for them at first. The first few times we used the bath two of us did it together and still we felt like we needed another pair of ... Read the complete review
