Advantages: Can be used for lots of different problems, very cheap
Disadvantages: none for me
Vaseline pure petroleum jelly is a very versatile product and can be used for many different things. It is definately a very useful item to have in your cupboard and all households should have a tub.
It comes in different sized pots. You can get 20g pots for the lips, these are a handy size to carry round in your bags and you can get the original one, an aloe vera extract one and a rosy lips one. The bigger pots come in 100g, which is the size i bought and a 200g pot. As i have the 100g pot this is the one i will talk about.
The pot is a creamy yellow colour which has a white lid. There is a label on the lid and front of the pot. They are both blue and they have the vaseline logo written in white, the words 'pure petroleum jelly' are written underneath in white. It also claims that they are no.1 for skin protection. I would agree with this as the only ingredient is 100% pure petroleum jelly and so there is nothing in there that could irritate the skin. This means that it is suitable for almost eveyone even those with sensitive skin.
Vaseline doesn't smell of anything and it is totally clear in colour. It can be quite greasy but as you don't need a lot it doesn't make a lot of mess.
Vaseline acts as a barrier cream which makes it great for covering cuts and wounds with it. This will stop any dirt getting into the cut and will help it heal quicker.
It is also great to use when you are colouring your hair, just by applying this around the hairline and behind your ears will stop the dye from staining your skin.
Also great to use if you are doing a perm, it acts as a barrier cream for the skin.
It is excellent to use to prevent nappy rash, again this acts as a barrier cream on the skin.
It can be used to soften skin, just like a moisturiser, and even works on your feet.
It can be used as an eye makeup remover, it is slightly messy but is very gentle on the eyelids and you dont have to worry about it stinging your eyes like some eye makeup removers can do.
I use this on my lips as well, i do have one of the 20g lip therapy tins but i do find that these don't last as long on my lips as normal vaseline does. I have had my 100g pot for about a year now and there is still quite a bit left in the pot. They are definately something that all households should have and as i only paid about 70p for mine it is very economical price wise, especially as it can be used for so many different things. You will save yourself money if you buy this rather than all the lotions and potions on the market.
Summary: All households should have some
