Advantages: All natural ingredients, no nasty chemicals. Gorgeous smell.
Disadvantages: Can be hard to source as only available in Waitrose
I first tried a pot of this lovely stuff after reading about it in the national press. Apparently it was mentioned on a parenting website, and mothers were discovering that, although they had bought it for their babies, it worked wonders for adult skin too, especially the facial area.
Always one to try a new miracle face cream, I headed for my nearest Waitrose to get myself a pot. However, I had to make several return visits before I could get any, because it was constantly sold out due to the national furore. When a delivery came in, it was immediately flying off the shelves again. Those unlucky people not living within travelling distance of a branch of Waitrose could also buy this cream on Ebay.
Like all the media storms-in-a-teacup, the fuss did die down and stocks were replenished: I did eventually get some instore, and I love it.
It costs around £2.50 for a 125ml pot, which you find in the baby products aisle. The first thing you notice on opening the pot is the delicious smell, this cream smells good enough to eat. The main ingredients are olive oil, vanilla and camomile, and this is the delicious, calming aroma that wafts up to greet you.
Secondly, dipping a finger in, you notice the delightful texture, soft and slightly fluffy, this cream melts into the skin and blends away to nothing.
Waitrose prides itself that its' baby products contain no nasty ingredients and this is no exception: It claims to be free from artificial colours, preservatives, parabens, and all the other chemical nasties that so often lurk in products like this.
Despite the name of this product, I use mine on my hands and face: I like to stroke a small amount at the corners of the eyes where the wrinkles are starting to develop :) I find that this moisturises really well, without causing irritation, which is a great result for me. I do know other people who are less sensitive skinned than me, and they rub it in all over the face and neck, it's personal preference really. It's really very soothing and creamy, with the added bonus that applying it to the face means you can breathe in that divine smell, which is really very relaxing.
A good tip is to apply to wet skin, which helps it to spread out easier.
A great product!
Summary: A great product at a bargain price. A little goes a long way!

- 06/02/09 I'm not entirely sure that the idea of bottom butter sounds completely sane..... :) |
