Weleda is a brilliant brand when it comes to baby products or just products for all the family, Weleda Calendula Face Cream is no exception. Again an award winning product awarded Mother and Baby Magazine Gold Award for the baby skincare range 2009, Pregnancy and Birth Magazine 2010, In Style Magazine 2010 and last but not least Cosmopolitan Magazine 2010.
It is also said to be a favourite of Jessica Alba who has one child.
Calendula Face Cream is a gentle facial moisturiser for delicate skins; it helps to protect against dryness and to lock in moisture. It helps to support the skins natural functions and help maintain moisture balance, it can also be used on the body and hands as a light moisturiser.
With ingredients such as; Sweet Almond Oil, Calendula, Beeswax and essential oils you can see why this Face Cream is a good choice.
With my daughter suffering from eczema and has done since birth I knew this would help her skin to keep moist and free from eczema, especially in winter months.
You can purchase this cream from weleda.co.uk for £6.50 for a 50ml tube. The soft metal tube comes in the usual Weleda baby bright orange packaging with a white screw off lid.
Squeezing some of the cream coloured product onto the back of my hands it looks thick, I was expecting a cream but not something as rich and I thought this may make my daughters skin worse.
I applied a small amount to her face and neck, the cream seemed to sink into her skin quickly as I gently rubbed it in but after five minutes there was still some residue left on her skin, it felt and looked greasy as well so I patted her face with a tissue to take the greasyness away.
I even applied a little onto my face at night where my eczema had been and not shifting, before going to bed like my daughter's skin I had to pat the area down with a tissue as this product just doesn't like to sink into the skin, although my skin felt soft to the touch afterwards.
I wouldn't say after a few uses on me it make my eczema any better, in fact in the long run it was properly worse as I developed a few spots in the area I had been applying this product, mostly because it is so rich.
I have tried this face cream on my daughter at different times, winter; summer, just out of the bath, on her eczema and with all the same greasy, none sinking in results.
Due to purchasing other products from Weleda and having great results from them I feel this was a let down to their baby range.
Needless to say I have loads of this product left and I feel it is a waste as I don't dare use it anymore, I will stick to my usual eczema cream on myself and my daughter as I know it works a lot better for the both of us.
As for moisturising the skin, yes it works if you can put up with the greasy feeling and maybe a few spots out of it.
Sorry Weleda but I don't like this product and I don't have much more to say about it.
