As I've mentioned before when I was pregnant with my little one, I always wanted high quality products for her and her dads sister worked in a health centre and was keen in giving me a speech about ethical products with no harsh chemicals etc etc so she brought me an entire goody bag of free Weleda products for us to try. One of them was this Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash. 

*** The Product ***

This shampoo and body wash has the following benefits and features:

*light, delicate fragrance from pure, natural essential oils
*free of synthetic fragrances, colours, preservatives and raw materials derived from mineral oils.
* dermatologically tested and approves for the use on sensitive skin. 
*approved by paediatricians and dermatologists. Ideal for adults with sensitive/delicate skin.

*** The Packaging/Pricing *** 

* it comes in a bright orange tube, with a top down lid
* free standing, it can be placed in the bathroom or bedroom upright and is very sturdy
* a 200ml bottle costs around £5 but from the centre I acquired it from it costs £6.50 so generally ranges from £5-£7.

*** My Opinion ***

I absolutely loved this product and used it religiously when my daughter was a baby (and when I was getting it for free!) 

It comes out the tube in a quite a thick white liquid, and I used it by applying it to my daughters sponge and squeezing it in the water to get bubbles. In comparison to other washes it doesn't create an overload of bubbles but with a newborn this was the least of my worries! It was very good for washing her skin and leaving it soft and supple.

A 200ml tube lasted me about 3-4 months as little babies don't need too much washing every single day and a small amount really does go a long long way. 

The smell is very soft, and you can definitely smell the subtle calendula flowers, but as it isnt over bearing it doesn't take away from baby's lovely baby smell which I love! (makes me broody again to smell it!) 

In terms of using it as a shampoo it was wonderful! When she had a little bit of cradle this was amazing at removing dry flakes on the scalp and leaving her hair soft, silky and smooth. It definitely (even though it didn't advertise it as one of the features) is a tear free formula, is very soft and doesn't contain any harsh chemicals so my daughter suffered absolutely no adverse reactions to it and it left her face and body completely rash free. 

This brand has consistently won Mother and baby awards and is praised universally. When I first had my daughter in 2009 I hardly saw this range on the shelves of local pharmacists and supermarkets but I have since now seen it more readily available in large boots stores and superdrug which means its now more mainstream so mums out there have more options to base their decisions on!

I have since stopped using it as my daughter is no longer a baby (so seems unneccesary to use baby products on her) and for £6.50 a pop I didn't feel the need to shell out for it when she can happily use other widely available high street brands. 

I would 100% recommend this shampoo and body wash to all new mums out there! Its soft, gentle, high quality and ethical so we know it is good for our babies and their skin! It's a bit more on the pricey side but you can't put a price on the happiness and well being on our little bundles of joy!
