The Little White Company Little Fairies Bedlinen
by Whizz11
When we decorated my little girl's bedroom last year to make it into a big girl's room for her we decided to go quite neutral and even though she loves Minnie Mouse and Disney we didn't want it to look like the room had thrown up Disney so we decided to purchase her bedding from The Little White Company. They have some beautiful pieces ... in there and the set we decided to go with Little Fairies bed linen as it is so cute, white in colour so it matches her bed and wardrobe as was the nicest we had seen in our extensive search for suitable bed linen for our little girl.
We liked this because it had lots of coordinating pieces such as pillows, bedspreads, duvets etc so we could carry on the theme throughout the room and it would all match.
It's subtle and understated but classic and girly all at the same time. What I love about it is that it really goes with her white room and white furniture and does not look too plain due to the pattern on it.
The Little White Company describe this bed linen as, "a lovely girls' bed linen set, with an exquisitely embroidered fairy in a pretty appliqué dress and trimmed with a matching floral stripe." The set comes with a duvet cover and a matching pillow case.
The pillow case is white in colour with a running stitch of pink down the right hand side and a band of flower material and the fairy motif. The fairy is embroidered really well and looks very good quality as the stitching is all in place and beautiful. There is also a heart shape stitched on which has the words, "fairies can make dreams come true," stitched on it as well. I think this phrase is so sweet and perfect for a bedtime thought and bedtime covers!
The duvet is also white and has a fairy design at top features three different fairies in different poses. The fairies are in the garden with lots of little flowers around them and you see one of the fairies watering the flowers and another one is planting daisies with her magic wand. IT a cute scene and also has the same pink running stitch on it and a band of flower material as well. There is also another heart shape with the same, " fairies can make dreams come true," stitching.
What I like about the duvet cover is that it doesn't have poppers at the bottom or buttons, it just folds over and so you get a really nice clean edge and no annoying poppers for my little girl to sleep with. This makes it really easy to change the duvet cover too when I need to wash it. The set washes well at 30 degrees in the machine and although it comes out a bit crumpled it irons well and looks beautiful back on the bed again all fresh and clean.
The duvet and pillow case come in two different sizes, single bed or cot bed and the sizes from the website are as follows:
Single duvet cover: 140cm x 200cm
Standard pillow case: 50cm x 75cm
Cot bed duvet cover*: 120cm x 140cm
Cot bed pillow case*: 36cm x 58cm
The Duvet cover and pillow case cost £60 and has been a really lovely investment for us. Read the complete review |

Dora The Explorer Reversible Duvet Cover
by xmum2threex
While shopping in B & M we came across this Dora quilt set reduced to just £3.50. For a character quilt cover set I thought this was a fantastic price, and as my daughter loves Dora the Explorer I knew she would love it. Upon opening at home I was even happier to see it was actually a reversible quit set. Each side had a different ... design both as lovely as the next so my little girl could choose which side she wanted to use. Both sides are bright and colourful and perfect for any little girls room. One side has smaller pictures of Dora while the other has large images. Both sides have a patchwork design with flowers and images of Dora, but by differing the sizes of patterns and layout of the colours it provides two completely different scenes.
The quilt set is made from 100% polyester. I have to admit I do not like polyester quilt sets usually. I find they slide off the quilt a lot quicker than cotton versions and can be a nightmare to get them to sit correctly on the quilt. This has proved to be true with this set. While I can get it on easily enough I do find each morning when I am sorting the beds it has become loose and hanging at the bottom of the quilt. It fits a single quilt perfectly without being baggy at the edges or too tight, but the slightest movement makes the poppers undo and the quilt cover begin to slide off.
Once laid on the bed it looks impressive and the mixture of colours and patterns are exciting for little one to look at. It does have poppers to keep the covers securely in place but unfortunately these seem to come undone with even the lightest wiggle of the material. The set is very soft so causes no irritation to my little girl and she is more than happy with this set. It has a real silky feeling to the material but it is a little thin compared to other character sets that we own. It feels nice on the skin so provides a comfortable night's sleep.
My main complaint is how it has fared in the wash. While with the first wash it was just a little of the colour it has got progressively worse. Each and every time I wash this set more of the colouring has drained out of it. I followed the care instructions and put them in with the rest of the bedding so there is no reason for this to happen. Now it looks really faded and patchy and unfortunately looks really tired on my little girl's bed. She still loves it as you can still tell it is Dora but it has been very disappointing for me. We have owned this since January and it is already looking that tired it will need to be thrown out very soon.
While this is a very attractive set when first purchased it has quickly become tired and dull. The once vibrant colours are almost nonexistent now, and only the Dora prints and patchwork design remains. It looks as though this set is four years old rather than four months, and considering I stuck to the washing guidelines it is disappointing. I found the loss of colour that bad I would have returned it had it not been on sale for such a low price. I was lucky that we purchased ours for just over £3 but it is available on Amazon from between £6-£12. I would say give this a miss even if your child is a huge Dora fan as the quality is really lacking. We have other Dora sets that have lasted well so I am not sure why this is such low quality compared to them, but it certainly is a waste of money. Read the complete review |

Peppa Pig Polka Dot junior Bed Set
by sarahrichmond5
I bought this a while ago as a treat for my daughter who was and still is obsessed with Peppa Pig! The bed set is made for the smaller beds that you get when your child first moves into a 'big girls bed'. The bed size is approx 70cm x 140cm so when I found this set I was very excited!
I loved this set when I found it and it ... was a really reasonable price. We bought ours from a shop on ebay and it cost £20. In the set I got a quilt, duvet cover, pillow case and pillow - perfect and everything we needed.
The great thing about this set is that it is like a normal set except everything is in miniature which is perfect for the little bed. Even the pillow is smaller which I hadn't realized so I was really impressed with this.
My daughter absolutely loved the cover and pillow case. It was pink (which she loved) and really was bright and fun looking. Peppa is on the set lots of times which she loved but there are also other lovely girly pictures like flowers etc which she also really liked.
The duvet cover is really easy to put on it has little poppers at the bottom so is easy to fasten up (unlike my sons which has buttons). The cover fitted the duvet and pillowcase perfectly!
Her bedroom looks great now this is in there it just finished it off perfectly.
The set is excellent quality. It has been washed numerous times and the colors have stayed lovely and bright and the fabric is still in excellent condition it doesn't look worn and hasn't bobbled or anything like some others we have bought have. I have also washed the duvet and pillow itself and they have not spoiled at all. The duvet fits in the washer fine which is a bonus as with kids you do end up having to wash them for a variety of reasons.
I would recommend this set for anyone who has a little girl that loves Peppa. Read the complete review |
