The Little White Company Tooth Fairy Cushion
by Whizz11
This has to be the sweetest little pillow ever and one that looks very adorable in my little girls room.
Last year when we were decorating my little girls new bedroom and moving her from the baby room to her own big girls room we decided upon bedding from The Little White Company as it is very cute and classic and sweet and ... not loud and too overpowering like some children's bedding can be.
We decided to go for the fairy design of bedding and this little cushion, although not functional as an actual pillow to lie on, it works really well as a throw pillow and something to finish off the look of the bed really well and give it a bit more of a sweet look. This is actually the little cushion that my little girl gives to me or my husband when we are staying in her room reading her a story or comforting her at night. She gives us this to lay our heads on which is actually very sweet of her and in actual fact is quite a comfy pillow!
The cushion is square and is quite thick and puffy and works well if you put it up against a bigger pillow. The pillow measures 25cm square so is fairly small. What I love about this pillow is the design on it. The main pillow is white but then it has a fairy applique on it. The fairy has a beautiful delicate flowery dress on and beautiful embroidered wings on the pillow. She is brandishing a wand which has little embroidered flowers falling from it and then we see the words, "Fairies can make dreams come true," on it. I think this is a really beautiful phrase and my little girl likes the words too. Around the edge of the pillow there is a little fabric border made out of the lovely flowery material that is the same as the fairies dress so it ties the design in well around the pillow and gives it a bit of colour.
The best parrt about this pillow though is that it's actually a tooth fairy pillow. There is a little pocket on the bottom left hand side where the , "Fairies can make dreams come true, " wording is written and this is where your little one can store one of their teeth that has fallen out in order for the tooth fairy to replace it with some money or a treat. I think this is a beautiful way of presenting a tooth and although my little girl is not old enough yet to loose any of her baby teeth but when the time comes I know she will love using this pillow for that purpose!
The pillow cover is made from 100% cotton and the inside is 100% polyester so it is machine washable. I've put it in the machine a few times now as it does not get that dirty because my little girl does not sleep on it but it has always come out of the machine well and kept its shape and look.
A beautiful pillow to complete the look of my little girl's big bed! Read the complete review |

Asda Butterfly Cushion
by northernlovely
Note - I'm reviewing this Asda Butterfly Cushion as I recently purchased it for my daughter who is two, but I personally wouldn't class this as baby bedding, or ever give a cushion or pillow to a baby. This is a decorative pillow for toddlers and older - my little girl is two.
Recently I redecorated my girl's room as part of a ... second birthday treat for her and I wanted a very light, girly theme. I painted the walls Blossom White (the palest pink you can get) and put some lovely pink gingham curtains from Next up. I made some Cath Kidston lettering for her walls, and all I needed after that was a rug, cotbed bedding and a cushion.
I bought all three from Asda, the bedding has pink butterflies all over it as does the rug and this cushion compliments the set. I paid £6 in the sale for it which I think is very fair. It is a small sized pink butterfly shaped cushion with a non removable cover (though it's small enough to put in the washing machine in it's entirety). My local Asda also offered a flower in a very similar style. The butterfly has pink wings with a pink gingham middle (hence why I bought it, to match the curtains). You can pick it up in bigger Asdas (I bought it in Trafford Manchester), in some Asda Living stores, and online at Asda.com (you can collect at your local store for free even if they don't sell it, or you can pay a small P&P charge to have it delivered to your home or work).
The cushion is very well made, no loose threads or stitching, and the wadding is a fire resistant polyester. It is very pretty to look at and it sits on my daughter's pillow when her bed is made. At night, I pop it on the floor next to the wall, as an extra safety measure (she doesn't do it often, but she has a few times rolled over in her sleep and fallen out of bed though it is a cotbed and only low, so I set the cushion against the wall so she can't bang her head on the skirting). During the day or when she is poorly we leave it on the bed to prop her up so she can read books or watch things on her portable DVD player. It's therefore a very versatile little cushion that not only looks cosmetically pleasing it actually has been very useful to us.
The Asda Butterfly Cushion would also look nice in a little children's chair or as part of a reading corner, and I think it's so nice, that it would even make a nice and unusual gift for a little girl. Overall, I do recommend it, because it's a very nice and well made cushion which compliments her new room decor and it isn't priced ridiculously (I would never pay the £25 some children's cushions in John Lewis were going for). So overall, as long as you don't class this as baby bedding then I think this is a lovely and practical little cushion for little girls bedrooms or playrooms and I would highly recommend it.
