Babydan Cotton Cellular Blanket
by icklekittykat
When I researched bedding before my daughter was born, I was well decided on using Grobags from day one (you can see my review on those - I love them!) but of course I didn't realise that most newborns are actually too small for Grobags, and it wasn't until she was around 3 months old taht we could begin to use them with ... her.
She was born in June, so we didn't need huge layers of blankets, we just wanted something light to give her a covering and that would be safe if she did manage to kick it over her face. We also wanted the reassurance that if it did go cold (well, it is the UK after all!) that we could layer up two or more of these and it would still be safe and breathable.
So cellular blankets were a natural choice as they have small holes in the genera design which means air is free flowing, so even if the blanket is over the baby's face, they can stil safely breathe (although I was always so paranoid about that anyway!). The material is cosy and soft without being too heavy, so perfect for a summer blanket and also layered up gices plenty of warmth. These blankets are a good size so we were able to swaddle our newborn in them easily and double up one blanket, instead of using two on chillier nights.
The colours are pretty and simple - we started with cream ones as we didn't know the gender of our baby and then couldn't resist pink once a girl came out!
The blankets wash really well, our daughter is almost two and putting a blanket on at bedtime is something she asks for as part of her routine. The colour on the pink ones has faded slightly and the blankets have lost their shape a little, but for two years of constant use at such a reasonable price, I have to say that is good going in my book! The Little White Company Milly Quilt
by Whizz11
Last year when we were decorating my little girls room we wanted to go quite neutral and classic looking. My little girl loves Minnie Mouse and all things Disney but I didn't want it to be a Disney explosion in her room. We wanted something white and quite plain but still girly which is when we stumbled upon The Little White Company shop ... which does just beautiful girls and boys bedroom items. To go with her bedding we also bought this beautiful patchwork quilt which I absolutely fell in love with. The LIttle White Company call it, "A special quilt to treasure" and I definitely agree. This is something that hopefully she will keep on her bed forever and pass down in her family.
I love quilts and I found this quote about a quilt just to show how special they are in families, "Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love."
The quilt lies at the end of her bed and finishes off the look of her bed perfectly in my opinion. It is folded over and so looks like an old fashioned quilt of old days. She doesn't actually use it as bedding on her bed but there have been nights when she has been upset and so I have slept in her room for a little while to calm her back to sleep and this quilt has kept me nice and warm and cosy.
The quilt is a lovely mixture of lots of pretty pink and white colours. On the front of the quilt there are lots of pretty pink patches and squares. One of the main designs of the squares is little pink roses and flowers with green petals and they are so delicate and sweet. Some are in the shape of hearts and some have hearts stitched on them so there is quite a sweet look and feel to this quilt. There are also some squares that are just white, some with just pink stripes and some with just pink dots.
All around the edge of the quilt there is a pretty pink polka dot trim which I think finishes off the quilt nicely and brings everything together well. The quilt is fairly thick and padded and is definitely a very good quality quilt. The stitching is intricate and delicate and well done and you can't see any mistakes in it. The reverse of the quilt is just quilted white material but it still has the polka dot stitching around the edge so if you wanted to just have the plain white side on show you could do that too.
What's great about this quilt unlike many other hand made quilts is that it is 100% cotton and machine washable. We have put it through the wash a few times now and it has come out perfectly and looks as good as new.
You can buy this quilt in a number of sizes depending on the size of bed you want it to fit. We bought it in the cot bed size but you can also get a single bed size too. The sizes from the website and the prices for the different sizes are as follows:
Cot bed quilt 95cm x 120cm
Single W165cm x L200cm
Single £165
Cot bed £85
In conclusion, this is a beautiful addition to my daughters rooms and one we will cherish for a long time. Read the complete review |

Cotton Cellular Blankets
by ladyradley
When my granddaughter was born I bought her a lovely celluar blanket from Toys R Us. I had some for my own children when they were babies and when I saw a lovely soft baby pink one in the babies section of Toys R Us I couldn't resist buying it for my new granddaughter.
It came rolled up and tied with a satin pink ribbon, just ... the packaging of it like this made it all that more attractive. It cost £12 which I thought was an average price to pay. I have seen them cheaper elsewhere but this was a large blanket- cot sized so I think £12 was a good price especially seeing as it's very good quality.
There were other colours available including white, lemon and baby blue. When I was there there were not any bright colours, all just pastels.
The blanket is made from 100% cotton which makes it soft and kind to baby's skin.
Before using this with my granddaughter I did wash it first and tumble dried it so that it remained soft. It washed really well and was lovely and soft afterwards. My granddaughter uses this blanket regularly. Because she is only small it wraps round her about 4 times which at the moment is useful seeing as the weather is so poor! I know that within a matter of months though she will be filling the blanket! It is a really lovely, warm blanket that helps to keep her snuggled up against the cold and wind when we go out. We also use it to put over her in her moses basket too and it's lovely to keep her warm.
I have washed this several times and it remains in good condition, it hasn't lost it's shape or become worn or bobbly looking and I know it will be used daily for a good while so think that £12 was a very reasonable price considering it's quality. Read the complete review |
